Digging into the new Twin Peaks show (which I love) and revisiting the original gave me a new appreciation for how badass Agent Cooper is. And since I know a lot of folks here love good TV, and especially good law enforcement/detective TV, I thought maybe we should have a poll of our favorites. Of course, there have been a TON of great TV cops/detectives - I listed ones I sort of have a bias towards. Of course, feel free to write in a favorite. I also didn't include cops or detectives from shows that were specials or mini-series (Cole from True Detective, etc.), or ones that would be funny but would take away from someone maybe more deserving (Barney Fife), or ones from more than one show (so, no Dana Scully, Phillip Jeffries, Tubbs, etc.).

You get three votes - get to it!!

1. Kate Beckett, Castle

2. James Crockett, Miami Vice

No one from the Law & Order franchise? How about Olivia Benson or Lenny Briscoe?

I don't and have never watched Law & Order or any of the CSI shows, which is why none were included. Thanks for the contribution though!

I've never gotten into CSI, but the Law & Order shows (including Criminal Intent and SVU) are among my favorites.

Wow, on that list it's Magnum.
Off the top of my head, it would have been more difficult if it included Columbo, Jim Rockford, Kojak, Lenny Briscoe, Frank Pembelton, Adrian Monk, Barney Miller, Steve McGarrett (TOS), and Sam McCloud.

LOVED the Equalizer. Shades of another of my favorites going back to the black and white reruns when I was a little kid.

Richard Boone in 'Have Gun Will Travel'

Wire Paladin - San Francisco. Everybody thought Wire was his first name.

Did a lot of interesting things on "Have Gun Will Travel." Not surprising since the show had great writers, including Gene Roddenberry.

I'm 6 episodes from the end of the Wire and I'd put Bunk way ahead of McNulty. Bunk is the man.

Just recently watched the episode where Bunk and Lester are searching Chris' truck with Chris and Snoop cuffed on the sidewalk.

Bunk is strutting around with a cigar in his mouth. Snoop asks if he's thinking about what a great Cop he is (or something - who can tell what Snoop is saying). Bunk says, "nah, I'm thinking about p-ssy!"

Snoop replies "so am I"

Haha

sometimes I wish it would snow for a week, I couldn't go to work, and I could re watch them all again, in order from the beginning without breaks!!
I have been watching about 5 episodes a week for a few months after buying the box set and having to avoid spoilers (including a thread I started here when I started watching).

I'll take a hiatus for a bit after I finish, gorge on recaps and summaries for a bit, and then rewatch with the commentary.

Just watched the episode when poor Prop Joe gets one in the brainpan. RIP fat man
