POLL: Move Sandusky Threads to Test Board?

hmmm. its a fine line with me but I am voting no.
I think it has to be up to the MODS to decide what goes and stays.
There is info from Ashiro, Jimmy, Ray, Lundy, Mhentz and especially Lubrano that I find informative and
pretty important. So I want that to stay, others not so much.
Also I think that there is also a point in the thread that the MODS can say "ok, enough is enough" and either lock it or move it.
My feeling is you have 2 choices. Pony up 10 bucks a month for the Den where there is very little to no Sandusky talk or
ignore the threads (I know thats tough since there are so many of them) but again that should be up to the MODS to either
move or merge. JMO.

Complete nonsense - there is no more CRITICAL ISSUE facing our University, just as Mr. Labrano, one of our Alumni Voices has pointed out many times, and you want to relegate people's voices and the call's to bring the miscreants to justice to the obscurity of the "test board" whatever the heck that means??? Absurd not to discuss these issues prominently on a board dedicated to the supporters of The Pennsylvania State University.

Maybe threads should have an expiration date. If it's new information - e.g. Lubrano's recent posts on the Freeh materials - it should be posted on this board. But if it's no longer fresh news move it to an archive file that can still be accessed. (Don't put it on the Test Board as some of us don't care to venture into that particular swamp.)

This board is getting like the pitt football board. All they talk about is Penn State and how much they hate us. Their board is therefore useless. Our board is becoming a constant rehash of Sandusky and BOT nonsense. Thus, our board is approaching uselessness. Let's stop the madness now and return the board to its original intent.

There's a subset of posters on this board who almost exclusively post about Sandusky, Curley/Schultz/Spanier, Freeh, etc. They're allowed to pollute the board with new threads about those subjects, and constantly invoke those topics within other threads.

Oh, I'm fine with just not reading the posts and fine with JS getting another day in court. But, folks could just as easily read and contribute on the Test Board so visitors to this board aren't pummeled in the face with what is clearly an obsession for some.

I know for a FACT that since BWI launched it's new format, there are fewer moderators. Tom is a busy guy and isn't on this board as much as everyone thinks.

I voted no because the info by Lubrano and other posters is good and should have a forum to be heard and discussed that's isn't banished to the cesspool that is the test board.

My preference would be merging threads (like when 5 people start separate threads on JS' retrial because they don't look to see someone else did 2 posts down).

As for the hijacking of threads (like the one Lubrano started that has degenerated the past 2 days into a never ending circle about MM's testimony with a handful of posters who go off the deep end and refuse to use the ignore button)- I don't know what can be done other than a mod deleting their posts to keep the thread on topic. (Frankly, it's pretty embarrassing that it has degenerated into stuff like talking about anatomy due to height differences, etc).

Lubrano's stuff is related mostly to Freeh/BOT/Sanctions, right? That would be separate from JS IMO.

This is the "Main Board" as well as being the Football Board and it is just as much about all topics relating to The Pennsylvania State University as it is about "football". If idiots are permitted to pollute the board with nonsense about their favorite bbq grill, then threads involving those who disgracefully hijacked our Great University and threw it under the bus should stand as well. In fact, I'm all for moving the bull$hit "this is my favorite toothbrush" posts to the test board, but not threads discussing potentially the most CRITICAL TOPIC facing the University at the present time.

I sympathize with some of the sentiments expressed in this thread.

With JS, it appears that between his court appearance, his writing letters with some TV reporter, the CDT having an interview with Dottie, etc. that there has been a flurry of activity concerning JS. My preference would be for folks to not start a new thread for each article. While I can merge them, I find that if I do so when the posts have gotten somewhat large, that they are very confusing to read after the merger. So it's a damned if I do, and damned if I don't.

Within the JS threads, I'm getting increasingly frustrated with a few posters that go way overboard in their responses. It's unnecessary. I end up having to choose between deleting the entire thread because of such posts, deleting the offensive posts, or editing the offensive posts. The 2nd and 3rd actions take a lot of time and effort on my part. The 1st action is the easiest to follow, but I hesitate to throw out an entire thread when only part of it is offensive.

There is no simple answer in this situation. That said, I'm not inclined to move JS posts to the Test Board.

It's got nothing to do with the number of mods or the new format.

Since the scandal, Tom has allowed multiple topics on the board about the scandal. Since the inception of the board, there have always been multiple threads per ANY topic--it's just the way things have been run.

I voted to move them to a separate, but it's pissing into the wind. I don't agree with the notion that this is a football or PSU-only board. I just hate seeing the same crap from the same people, and rehashings of rehashings.

It seems like the people who have been most vocal in their responses to the OP in this thread have been the ones we long ago identified as having an unknown motive to support the original prosecution....until their death...those who refuse to recognize the possibility that the prosecution was even partially wrong.

I think that a separate Sandusky/BOT board is the way to go. It gives people a forum to discuss those topics if they want to, in one place clearly delineated for those topics.

What has been disheartening on this board in the past is when there has been a big football game, and one comes here to talk about the game, but someone has instead started yet another Sandusky or BOT thread that clutters the board. This issue has actually gotten better now that the board doesn't have Thread View anymore, but I still think that a separate Sandusky/BOT board would be a better solution.
