Believe it or not, I don't wake up everyday and think of Jerry Sandusky or Joe Paterno. Fortunately, this board is the only place where Joebots and the Free Jerry/NAMBLA crowd congregate. Admittedly, it's fun to push their buttons.

Why the crap would Delany care if someone knew he went out on a date in 1978??? Who else would care??? His wife???? His kids???? He didn't marry Kitty until 1986. His sons weren't born until 1989 and 1992.
Heck, I went out with tons of girls before I met my wife. Even after I met her. But never AFTER I married her. She knows about it and we have been married for almost 43 years.
I can't believe that something like this would have any legs at all. ESPECIALLY with respect to any Wild West SEC school like Ole Miss where the media heads are turned all the time. Something like this wouldn't even rise to a jaywalking violation with respect to the SEC.
I don't think it has anything to do with him going out on a date. It has to do with the appearance of him taking a bribe (offer of date/services of woman) to drop the investigation.
Well, I guess if you want to pull a Kavanaugh and pay the girl enough money to claim she was raped, maybe it will get some legs. But if not for that, I would say:
"Sure I went out with Mary Smith. Nice girl from what I remember. I went out with lots of girls back then. Most single 30 year old guys did in those days. Anyone that thinks something as simple as that in 1978 would have influenced the Ole Miss investigation is crazy."
