I won't spend a second debating poll positions this early in the season. The OSU-Oklahoma result is far more important.
Like it or not, OSU was considered the B1G's flagship program by the majority of the country. And that flagship got waxed pretty good on its home field.
In the end, at least one P5 champion will be left out of the playoffs. Sooners could easily run the table. Will anybody beat USC? Clemson could go unchallenged, especially if FSU can't find a QB. And there is no way the SEC winner doesn't get a berth.
B1G's image took a punch in the face yesterday in the 'Shoe. That's a far bigger concern than the polls moving forward.

Man I hate to say it, but I agree, you are correct. At this point, the Big Ten is the odd man out. With that said did you SEE the Clemson "offense" last night? I am having a hard time seeing Clemson go unbeaten winning every game 17-3 the rest of the season, although it is possible. Had Auburn had ANYTHING offensively last night, we stay 4th and Clemson loses. Check that thought, Auburn would have jumped us also. I digress though, at this point I am looking long and hard and I see nobody in OUs way until bedlam, I see nobody in Bama's way the rest of the season, and nobody in the Pac 12 plays any defense so as long as Darnold stays healthy SC will hang 45 on everyone out there also. The only team I can see losing is Clemson. I'll be hoping that Louisville can find a way to put up 21 points or so this week and knock them off, this one won't be in death valley so they got a shot.

good points. As last year showed, with a four team format, football 'politics' still rules.

Only a 6- or 8 team format can/ might take the bias out of it.

Papered up ranking. Media embellished status as the top team in the Big 10. The concerns I saw vs Indiana killed them vs Oklahoma. Barrett is still their QB, their secondary is young and inexperienced, and they don't have the same caliber of WRs and LBs they are accustomed to (again, could just be youth).

Additionally, Oklahoma isn't mediocre. Probably going to have to play the Cowboys twice in a row to get into the playoff, but the Big 12 doesn't appear to be very deep with top 15 teams.

SEC looks like LSU/Bama again. ACC could be determined next Saturday in Louisville as Clemson rolls in. PAC 12 probably going to USC/Washington winner.

Big 10 is likely to go down between Wisconsin and whichever between us, Michigan, and Bucky takes the East.

And the upsets. They are coming. They always do.

Relax, Take it from someone who lives in Big 12?country, OU will lose at least once or twice this year. K-State, WVU, Okie State, and even TCU will play them tough and have a chance to win. They are by no means on the road to undefeated.

Yep. And like it or not tOSU has some glaring weaknesses. They're still there from last year despite having an all-star coaching staff.
The Sooners need to get past OSU and TCU. I can't see USC running the table. Based on their history they're bound to take a week off. I can't see Clemson running the table either. ACC is tough.

What I learned from reading this board...
  • Our 'new and improved' offensive line isn't so new and improved.
  • Poor open-field tackling. Pitt didn't seem to have a problem tackling and they've had the same number of practices.
  • Trace had the jitters. Could explain his over throws, happy feet, etc. But the question remains, why? Did he lack confidence in the game plan?
  • Saeed Blacknall is still part of the team despite his disappearing act.
  • Narduzzi came prepared.
  • Special teams look solid.
At this stage in the season I think you could toss PSU, Wisky and Meatchicken into a hat and draw straws to see who is 2nd best in the conference.

It's mid-September. Take a breath.

Watching some replay of the game, Blacknall does not hold his blocks well. Could be one reason he is persona non grata in the passing game.

Clemson exposed duhO$U last year. According to Herbie the Homer, Indiana was the best QB, Receivers and Passing Attack duhO$U would face, but Baker Mayfield and Oklahoma passed for 386 yards on 27 of 35 passing, 3 TDs and 0 INTs! Opps, looks like Herbie the Homer was a bit "off" in his outlandish claims yet again, LMFAO! duhO$U should have never been anywhere near #2 or gotten #1 votes after what Clemson did to them last year! This System is such a joke, it isn't even funny.

Seriously, what a bunch of crybabies here.

Already making excuses and filing complaints whilst projecting an undefeated season.

Most of them haven't watched a full season of college football before.

I know. After our loss yesterday, we should be ashamed. :p

Hey Board: Calm the F down. Nardouche clearly sandbagged in week one (and almost lost btw) showing zip on tape and then came out with a very good defensive plan. It's a backyard game - they are always somewhat competitive. Ask Iowa. Moreover, the staff has plenty to work on - keeps the depth chart battles alive on Wednesdays.

We have a long way to go. We won. Move on to the next week and enjoy the ride. Act like you've been there before (we have).

None of those teams will go undefeated....Bama may be the only one with a chance. Going undefeated doesn't happen much any more and I don't see it happening this year.

I had the feeling early we would blow Pitt out. We didn't, but we beat them by 19. Was it ever much closer than the 14 point lead we had in the first 5 minutes, though?

So, a team which never threatened to take a lead embarrassed us?

Here is the real reason for concern: when your D is in the field for 39 minutes of a 60 minute game, they get tired. When they get tired they get hurt. Last year's horrible injury toll on D was partly bad luck, partly too many plays. We need to sustain drives.
