I will be rolling into town around 3. We usually visit Whiskers, but since it is at BJC, I am not sure what to do.

Our crew will be at Letterman's also, the NLI is mandatory for matches at Rec Hall.

Can't be there myself, strongly recommend Letterman's though.

Well that's disappointing, Roar. I thought I might get a chance to see you again.

No promises guys, as my schedule is pretty hectic, but I'll try to swing by Letterman's before that match if I have enough time to do so.

I'm making the trip up from Philly as well for the first and only time this year (tough to get away from my team). I'll try and stop by Letterman's beforehand, but will be in town @ 3pm staying at the Day's Inn. Let me know if anyone wants to meet up beforehand.

Tom, let me know here if you're going to be at Letterman's for sure and I'll swing by if I can. BJC security is much different than Rec Hall, and it's more challenging ;). Must be at the BJC no later than 5'ish.

Speaking of Letterman's, probably could be a separate thread...the Coaches Radio Show is this evening, starting at 6:05pm. The following has been shared in a public setting by a coach, so I'm comfortable sharing here...some of this, maybe all, could be repeated tonight;
Nevills is DRILLING, which is not quite the same as live, going-hard, wrestling, so he's still "on the mend". I mention this since some have misunderstood. Drilling is good, even great news, but the clock's ticking.
Cassar is not in school.
McCutcheon has been going hard, but is day-to-day.

If you are outside the local listening area, these shows are carried live, then archived, at GoPSUSports.com (click Connect, then All-Access Audio & Video).

.

I'm a big tea leaf reader. When you combine this with:

  • Cael's comments on Cassar needing to get himself in school a few weeks ago
  • Cael's comments over break of Cassar being an option at 285, then all comments being about Nevills the last few weeks.
  • Signing of Mark Hall, AJ Nevills. Stout last year.
  • The obvious move upwards of certain wrestlers in our lineup over the next year or two, regardless of Cassar's status.

Not saying anything is written in stone, but it won't surprise me when...

Thanks for the info, guys. I get off the plane around 330 and will head to Letterman's to hopefully rub elbows with some of you and then head to BJC around 5.

Assuming I get to town early enough (big assumption) I plan on stopping in Letterman's to at least say Hi.

Roar, unless something crazy happens, I'm now set to make it to Letterman's. Thanks for the heads up on the security entrance issues at BJC. I hadn't thought about that.

So I'll shoot for getting there between 4 and 4:30. Hope to see you there.

backdrft, Goldbanger, hlstone, Cowbell, and others, I hope to meet you there. tjb, it would be an honor to meet you. NoVa, we've met several times -- hope you make it up in time. Androcles, I assume you'll be at the dual. Any chance you can swing by Letterman's?

Anybody have thoughts on a location at Letterman's? The bar area (turn right after entering) gets crowded pretty quickly, but you can mingle. The downstairs room with the TVs is nice, but you're kind of stuck in your seat. Sometimes they let folks get together in a room on the entrance level, straight past the host/hostess table, but that may have to be reserved (I really don't know). Anyway, if you guys have any thoughts on a specific location, post them so that we have a sense of where to try to meet.

I have never been there. But I will be sporting a worn out PSU visor. It's my thing:) feel free to say hi to me.

hope to meet some of you guys at Letterman's. I'll probably have a PSU baseball hat on. If I remember to throw it in the bag, I might even wear a BlueWhite Illustrated t-shirt.

I'll be there for sure Tom, but must leave no later than 4:40 or so. NoVa is stopping by if he gets into town early enough, but Cowbell is heading to Happy Valley Brewing Company. See y'all there!! Blue/White plaid shirt, with logo above pocket for those that don't know me.

I'll be there for sure. White Roar for 4 PSU Wrestling tshirt.

Blue Penn State pull over with a blue bill and beige top NLWC hat.

So you guys are drinking alcohol (aka "the Devil's Brew") today?

Sinners ....

:D

I'm jealous. I do have my headphones ready for Byers' call o' the action at my work desk. Hopefully we get the win and I can enjoy Jim and Tim on the BTN call when I get home. A loss and it may take me a few days to watch it.

Arrived at lettermans around 3:30. Got the 1st beer no problem. Then the service started to make whiskers seem like speed racer. So pops and myself decided just to drink beers in the bjc parking lot. Enjoy the match all. I'm going with 27-11 tonight.

Got into town about 3:30, had dinner at Cracker Barrel (daughter's a student, her choice), now patiently waiting is Section 201, , Row B)

I do love the Jimcrackery at your typical Cracker Barrel. Funny what one's favorite restaurant was at the age of 19

No Thank you,. You are great guy. I had a great time.

Funny story, As we were entering BJC, someone from behind me exclaimed,"Search him!" So the security patted me down in front of the thousands of people waiting to get in.

The person who said it was my Dad.

I had no idea that he was going to be able to make it to the event. Great day on so many levels.

It was great to see all you guys, seeing those I've met before and meeting some new ones. We should make it a habit, which I would consider a good one as opposed to all my other habits!!

Your Dad turned you in to security? That's cold man. :D

Great seeing everyone as always and a great dual meet on top of that.

Just be thankful he didn't yell out "Cavity search!"

Fun time last night, BUT....I was one of the many, MANY people stuck in traffic trying to get there. The 6PM start was very, very tough for people to make on time considering travel and work-related traffic. (I come from 2.5 hrs away) When we finally got in, Zain just got his pin...and we were by Letterman's at the start of Nico's match....
Traffic was so bad that both Ironhead and LacesUp mentioned it....

Yeah, maybe I missed the reason why, but I still don't understand the 6 pm start time. I'm assuming the start time was driven by BTN (???), but it made things difficult for folks attending the meet and probably reduced TV viewership as well.

Since it wasn't scheduled to be on TV at all, I don't see how TV viewership could be less than zero.

It was moved to 6 PM for TV, which was well publicized by PSU as was the fact that multiple events would be going on at once. One of those events was an indoor track meet in the multi sport facility so the bottom part of the parking lot east of BJC was already full and closed off.

Knowing all of that we left Letterman's at 5 PM and had no problem and were parked around 5:10 PM. I understand not everyone has the luxury of getting there early. However, we are talking about an event on live TV with 16K in attendance. It can't fit everyone's schedule.
