Its funny because I've see some people really take PFF player grades seriously and I've seen others basically say they are full of it.
Anyway, here's their picks for All Big Ten
https://www.pff.com/news/college-football-2019-pff-all-big-ten-team

Parsons and Friermuth make the first team. I was surprised Menet didn't even make honorable mention. Good to see Journey Brown make it though. Jan Johnson-2nd team!! Wade also. Brisker-3rd team?? YGM 3rd team. Hamler honorable mention. Blake only honorable mention.

What do you guys think of the picks?

Haven’t paid much attention to them over the last couple of years as they are just a hype machine. Like when they said that Saquon wasn’t a first round selection, then graded Nick Chubb as the top RB of that draft, and “confirmed” it by grading Chubb the top overall RB (not just rookies) of last year. They spout a bunch of crap, then use imaginary metrics to backup their claims.

Parsons was named 1st team all American by them with Jan Johnson honorable mention. No other PSU players on their AA teams

David Bell Second Team, was he not on commit watch to PSU?
He was. Proximity to an aging grandparent and their ability to attend every game at Purdue ended up winning out. He apparently loved Penn State. It’s a shame, too - he’s gonna be a good one.

So the pros are expected (well, I've read that) to select YGM in the first round.

The B1G, obviously, is a far tougher league than the nfl... so he only makes 3rd team.

Now maybe that's right. And maybe that kind of placement causes some scouts to scratch their worthless ... ummmm.. heads, and declare he is no better than round 5 and maybe he stays! Not counting on it.

BTW, not entirely sure how the nfl process works re underclassmen. Is Parsons in the mix as a soph (i assdume it's an age thing) or not?

Ohio State with 2 first team offensive players (Fields and Jackson) who came from the portal in the offseason. At least Jackson was a grad transfer.

I feel like Gillikin had a slow start to the season, but turned the corner and became a special teams weapon when we entered league play. I did a quick stats search and could not find any easy way to compare punts Inside the 20, which plays a huge factor in the overall distance average. Based on his 4 years, he will get his shot at the NFL. That is more important than being higher than Big 10 honorable mention.

Some strange choices.

I'm surprised that Wade & Brisker were named honorable mention at safety ahead of Taylor. I remember Wade and Brisker getting burned on more plays. Besides, Taylor was 2nd on the team in tackles.

I guess Hamler and YGM ought to stick around another yearo_O
That would be great but I saw a mock draft that had both going in the first round. To be honest I don't see it. Matos was 25th in the country in sacks and Hamler was only 53rd in the country in receiving yards. I realize that teams look beyond the stats. They look at strength, size, speed, explosiveness, etc. Even the size of their hands.

Agree. Its a strange list. Rutgers was the best game Brisker has played all year. Wade has gotten better but it didn't happen until about the 5th or 6th game.

What's telling to me is the talent and performance differential between PSU and OSU, most notably in the trenches and secondary. OSU has two 1st team, a 2nd teamer, and an honorable mention on the OL this year. PSU has one 3rd teamer on the OL in Gonzalez. OSU has two 1st teamers, and a 2nd teamer along the DL. PSU has a 3rd team and honorable mention on the edge, and Windsor as a 3rd team interior DL. Looking at the OSU secondary, they have 3 of the top 8 corners, and a 1st team safety.
