Projected BIG tournament scores

The Scarlet Nation wrestling folks have not been shy at all about playing the Sandusky card.
On the rare occasion I do visit their site, I would have to agree with you. I should have clarified that the NJ State U fans at nationals have been tolerable. Whereas, their football fans, especially in Piscataway, in a word, suck!

Hello. Long time reader, first time writer. I was curious about Big 10s and so I came up with a spreadsheet looking at how everybody has done head-to-head in conference (I don't think it looks possible to post that here however). Based off of that I have projected the following seeds to date (even though I think the conference only does 8 unless there are more qualifiers than that). These will obviously somewhat change with the majority of the conference duals still to be wrestling but I found it interesting nonetheless. Let me know if you think I am missing/overlooking anything.

Man hwt is more stacked then i thought

Yeah. HWT was tough to kind of piece together. It will probably not get easier as more results come in. Obviously the Sam Stoll thing with him being the most credentialed wrestler in that field (at least on the college level) and only having 1 match against another Big 10 starter that I could see.

Also, I have not seen him wrestle yet but Mason Parris seems to be highly thought of as a freshman but he has taken losses to Singletary and Jennings but beaten Hillger (who beat Jennings). Decent quarterfinal match for sure for the top seeds.

A few topics in this one thread. Lol

1) Big Ten scoring. It will be an exciting tourney since it is generally harder to win this than NCAA when there are less ranked competitors to take OSU or Iowa down.

2) Rutgers wrestling. Some hate. Most don’t and they have gotten better since Goodale arrived. They spend a lot of time trumpeting their greatness particularly in NJ but fail to recognize they likely aren’t even the best team in their state, even if AA bests Kolodzik for a title. They have drawn our ire for their hands to the face antics last year which thankfully helped usher in a new rule.....one that has largely eliminated a tactic that was clearly not wrestling. They are like “The Mouse That Roared”....a little country that sailed up the Hudson River and attacked the US, and no one noticed. Funny book and funny movie.

3) Suriano himself. Meh. The self trumpeting of the need to be the man I could do without. Just go do it instead. I also have no problem with wanting to be the big fish in a small pond. Again...just go do it. Getting a transfer without having to sit a year sends my ire at the NCAA as there was zero reason to allow it.

4) Rutgers football. The worst place I ever attended a game was WVU as the Lion. In fact it was not only football but every sport. Basketball, gymnastics, wrestling..... and the stories are both frightening and appalling. At least their teams were and are good and it was definitely a rivalry.

Rutgers football games are now just as foul and nasty and if I never step foot again on ir near that campus I’ll die a happy man. Imagine your team is so bad you can’t even score for 4 games and the only reason you have for going to a game is to be angry at the other team, their fans, and spew unmitigated vitriol.

Sheesh. Even in our dark years, and including the lowest of lows 6-4 loss to Iowa my goal was to tailgate, have fun, meet other fans and watch a game. I don’t remember ever rolling out of bed thinking “I gotta go tell every one I see to F$)?! Off today”.

Thanks for putting all of these together!

Parris will be very, very good in time. This year he's a high risk, high reward guy. Dangerous to himself and others. (Not nearly as dangerous to himself as Rachal, but who is?)

If you can find the video, I'd encourage you to watch the Parris-Hillger match. Exciting match. Parris won 9-6 but Hillger took him to his back for a sure 6 and possible fall, that was stopped for potentially dangerous. I won't say that was a blown call, but this was the ref:

St. Peter will overlook everything else (yes, everything!) (yes, even that) (and that) and let you skip the line to heaven for being the Lion there.

Being a deer during hunting season in WV is probably better than being the Lion in Morgantown.

Hasn’t been talked about much but Antknee whipped Hilger’s butt. Pretty impressive showing.

What are the chances Big Ten has every Champion at NCAA's? Contenders (IMO) and those in Flo Rankings that wrestle in Big 10.

125 - Spencer or Rivera... (#1, 2, 7, 8)
133 - Miccic... (Suriano, Desanto...#1, 4, 5, 6, 7)
141 - McKenna... (#2, 4, 5, 7, 8)
149 - Ashanualt .... (#2, 3, 9, 10)
157 - Nolf, next question... (#1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 10)
165 - Cenzo... (Marinelli, Wick..#1, 2, 3, 6, 7)
174 - Hall... (#1, 3, 9, 10)
184 - Martin... (Parker... #1, 2, 4, 7)
197 - Bo... (Moore... #1, 2, 5, 10)
HWT- Gable... (Cassar...#1, 3, 5, 7, 9)

I guess the chances are good, but 125 is not only deep, but very unpredictable.

141.....if Yanni is healthy

174....shhhhh.

184 is still up in the air imo

149 Kolodzik isn’t just steady but tough in a wide open weight class but I think he comes thru.

McKenna is looking like a legitimate threat to a healthy Yanni, but yeah.

149 I don't see Ashnault beating Kolodzik

174 has epic final written all over it

184 who outside the Big10 conference do you think is a legitimate threat to win this? I am curious to see how Shak does, but even if he has something for Martin that keeps it in Big10. I am uncertain who outside the Big10 has anything to offer Martin. Actually, if Shak doesn't have enough to handle Martin there isn't anybody else going to stress him.

Id say it also stems from the absolutely disgusting manner in which their fans (mostly football) have treated PSU regarding the Sandusky situation. By all accounts their behavior in the first game at Rutgers following the fallout was awful

I was there and can tell you it rivaled some of the worst opponent fan behavior I've experienced.
