I don't do this a ton, but I gotta brag about the Gophers this past weekend. Not for beating a brand new D1 team, but for having a FS exhibition during the intermission of the dual. There is no reason every team with an RTC isn't doing this, and it's fantastic exposure for fans to international styles. We need to preserve the Olympic dream. Give your RTC guys a good match, showcase it to the fans. It's a win-win for everyone (aside from making weight, but hell, give em an allowance for all I care).

Jayson Ness teched Anthony Abidin, but that's besides the point.

Good job, Gophers.

Thanks for post Crop. Minnesota has been beat up over the last few years it is nice to see Eggum add a little class to a rival.

I seem to remember attending a PSU @ Rec Hall against a Lesnar led Minny team where there was an exhibition after the match. Does anyone else remember this or was it just my imaganition?

great idea; beats hula hoop girl
Hilarious!

Luckily we’re not in a movie, in which case the comment would start a chain of consequences that end in war and strife. ;)

I’m thinking of, e.g., the classroom scene in “The Wanderers” or the insulting-Guinevere scene in “Excalibur” ...

I dont think so

Since Captain America tends to miss duals for freestyle opportunities, maybe we can book a match for him vs. Varner on, say Feb 3?

There's room for both in an intermission. Let's not decide on a best of two wonderfuls.
Yes, he likes Hula Hoop Girl and Freestyle Wrestling, probably in that order.
As alluded to above, Greco over Freestyle, but both over Folkstyle, and both on-par with Hula-Hoop Girl
Has HHG actually been identified?
No, and ya know what? For how the amount of people who find my unrequited love humorous, you'd think we'd at least have an ID on the girl. She's not even the one that got away... She's the one who stayed away :(

You want the good news or the bad news?

Good: I know who she is.
Bad: I'm pretty sure I know how old she is.

Good: There's lots of Youtube videos of her hula hooping.
Bad: I'm pretty sure I know how old she is.

Good: She hula hoops at more than just Penn State events, so she could make her way out your way.
Bad: I'm pretty sure I know how old she retty sure she's 17, with an outside shot that she's 18.

Now that we cleared that up, I still love the idea of a FS exhibition! I do prefer folkstyle, and never want to see free impinge upon its dominance here in the US, but more wrestling is more wrestling, and well, we do have THE BEST FREESTYLE TEAM IN THE WORLD, so maybe we should expose more people to it.....

I would like the RTCs to do something around duals. 2 matches during intermission isnt too much to ask.

Combine it with a audience participation competition. Instead of hitting a layup, foul shot, 3pter and half court shot in 30 seconds to win a prize, grab someone out of the stands, suit 'em up and if they can last 60 seconds without being pinned, they win a case of mustard.

Just don’t let the old guys participate!
