Where is that picture from? It looks like the lobby of the admin building at Drexel.

If Pitt has a major in "Pathetic Trolling" then there is at least one degree that they are superior in. But, your fellow alumnus, in other degrees, are probably embarrassed that you identify as Pitt.
And they are. I have many Pitt friends. They love their school. If pressed, they will admit Penn State is a bit better overall but Pitt has the edge in certain departments and majors.

These are facts:

1) The University of Pittsburgh is a good school.

2) Pennsylvania State University is also a good school.

3) There is a high correlation between the quality of a land grant institution (e.g., Penn State) and the population of the state that land grant institution resides in.

4) Both the University of Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania State University have different missions in comparison to other Commonwealth schools like Carnegie-Mellon, Lehigh, Bucknell, Penn, et cetera. Comparing Pitt and PSU vs. those schools is dumb: it is apples vs. oranges.

5) Much of this thread is coming off as a d**k measuring contest.

Yes, it does.

Funny thing is ...... you look at those rankings, and we're ahead of Lehigh.

But --- if people here really want to admit it --- every single admissions season, Penn State is a "safety school" for the strongest of the Lehigh candidates. (similarly, Lehigh is a safety school for various Ivy League candidates).

Anyone can twist those #s however they want to.

Agree, but I doubt anyone here would go to the Lehigh Board, if they have one, and say we were better. This thread was started by a Pitt troll. I admit I took the bait. My bad.

Penn State is a much larger school than Pitt with more than double the freshmen admitted to University Park than Pitt main. Based on the middle 50% range of freshmen

Penn State is a much larger school than Pitt with more than twice as many students admitted to University Park as compared to Pitt main. Just a little bit of searching found that the middle 50% for Penn State Main for the SAT is 1070 to 1280 and for the ACT is 24 to 29. Since Penn state admits more than twice as many students as Pitt it would be appropriate to compare the top of our middle 50% to Pitt's average. Based on your data SAT: PSU 1280, Pitt 1274 ACT: PSU 29, Pitt 29. You are right both schools are pretty good.

Well rankings are "generally" based on numbers... well what are they? You cant even see how subjective your own post is... There are all sorts of rankings which both schools will do well on but I only supplied true numbers supplied by both universities.. nothing subjective about that.. onlly the conclusions.. see you all in september.. next year..
I don't think so!! I don't want my car stolen or trashed!!

I choose not to associate with the type of Pitt fan I have met, perhaps you are different I don't know.

Will you have your on campus stadium finished for the 2016 football season? I think you are still some $'s shy of upgrades to the Steeler's stadium. I'm sure they will be happy to accept them when the lease is up.
