They knocked off Michigan yesterday, to advance to today's semi against top seed Maryland. They defeated Maryland, 1-0. The B1G Tourney is being held at PSU. The winner of the NW - Iowa semi will play PSU in the B1G Tourney championship game.

I watched part of it. I don't know anything about Field Hockey but I saw they won. One thing that was apparent was it was COLD. Congrats to the team.

Thanks, Tom. I admit to losing track of them this year.

understandable. I never created a 2019 PSU FH thread, in part because they played a tough OOC schedule and lost all of their early games, and also suffered some injuries that impacted them. The team did not achieve near the PSU FH norm. Fortunately for them, they seem to be healthy, and also playing their best ball, at tournament time.

The third no-goal for MD, I was screaming, "it didn't clear".
4 no-goals were all proper calls, but it was the first time I witnessed that many in one game. MD hammered our keeper.

PSU will play this afternoon the winner of *this morning's* Iowa/ Northwestern tilt. That second semi was postponed from last night. Weather? Anyhow, that would seemingly present an advantage for PSU. Go State!

I hear goalie help is on the way for PSU. :D

Some dingbat apparently decided that it was a good idea to water the field between the semifinals (rumor has it it's the same guy who handles PSU football parking ;) ). The artificial sleet turned the field into an ice skating rink.

That *is* the standard rule for field hockey. But with the weather, someone wasn;t thinking.

Just a short follow-up to the B1G Tournament.

The NCAA invites 18 teams to the D1 tournament. Iowa, by virtue of defeating PSU in the B1G Tourney final, got an automatic bid. 3 of the 8 at-large bids went to B1G teams: Maryland, Michigan, and Northwestern. PSU did not make the NCAA tournament. It was a tough year for PSU, between injuries and narrow loses to many of the top teams. PSU pretty much needed to win the B1G tourney to make the Big Dance, and they took Iowa to OT in the B1G championship match, but they didn't win the B1G tourney, and as such they didn't make the NCAA tournament.

I owe the "apparent dingbat" an apology. The field wasn't watered between games, it was just still wet from the watering before the first game and the rapidly dropping temp turned it to ice.
