How can Fox claim that its noon window is the most watched in CFB? Any broadcast execs out there care to chime in? Seems backward to me. Then again, its TV and they like to exaggerate or cite loopholes.

it is interesting that we know the start times of most games four months ahead of time. that is pretty cool for planning purposes.

Peacock PPV? Yuck.

Living in Virginia, watching games on Peacock (which I already have) is going to be easier for me than BTN (which I have to either get Hulu Live TV or the like for, and at a greater cost) games are.

Most watched NOON game is what I think they mean by that. Some weeks, they were the overall winner. The link shows all of last year's ratings. The reality is, certain teams draw better regardless of opponent. Having certain matchups will always draw well. A hyped up, close game usually pulls the most between blue bloods.

I'm pretty sure they are saying it's the most watched network window overall, which does make sense to me when you consider other windows seeing more competition, not showing a game every week in that window, etc.

How does the noon window out rate a 3:30 or 7:30pm window? Having a much better game on then I can see it but with relatively equal games then I don't buy it. The west coast isn't even up until halftime of these games.

This whole Big noon platform by Fox reminds me of an ice cream company launching chocolate chip ice cream. Well we already have vanilla and chocolate so what is the next best? Noon was available and they got
lucky because ABC already paved the way for them with Mich vs OSU and UT vs OK having traditional nooner slots. They just expanded it but there has to be an excellent game to beat the other time slots.

Here are the ratings by week if you want to see them...

Having games like Mich-OSU, OSU-PSU, PSU-Michigan, Alabama-Texas helps a lot, but their floor is even pretty low in the other weeks as they had teams like Michigan, Ohio St, Nebraska, etc with big draws playing.

The dreaded 11:00 AM Central time start.

So does FOX at noon mean no chance for gameday to be there?
ESPN Gameday? It's likely they will tend to disfavor Big Ten games now that the conference is no longer going to be featured on ESPN at all. Not impossible mind you, but would probably have to be the far and away best game on any given week with playoff implications to get Gameday.

But being on FOX at noon means a very high, almost certain, likelihood of having the FOX on site pre-game show (Big Noon Kickoff)

Unreal. The worst kickoff time. The only thing that would make it worse was if it’s on New Years Day. Oops. Sorry, That’s the Fiesta Bowl. They have a lock on the worst time slot of the year. 11am kickoff on New Years Day. Ugh.

On a bright note, I hope to be celebrating all afternoon and into the evening in Champaign.

Illinois will be a tone setter type of game. Losing their DC will be interesting. They return key pieces on defense (2 or 3 DL starters, 2 or 3 LBs, and an expected sure-fire #1 CB type), but still have holes all over the offense (left side of the OL is good, 3 expected starters at WR, but no known commodity at RB or QB yet).

Trip to Kansas will be intriguing because both had better than expected '22s, and will likely have more hype to live up to than usual.

Hopefully Illinois starts off ranked and comes in 2-0 to build up the game so we can throttle them to set up another big matchup with Iowa, who Hopefully doesn't do their typical early season close win/lose a game they shouldn't dance.

Agreed but I always feel like the noon start is bad because a) the team was up late the night before or b) they just weren't motivated.

This is an away game and first game of the year. Plus, the last time we played ILL, we all got ILL. That game was the second worst game I've ever seen PSU play (to the 6-4 game vs Iowa). OK, I'll also exclude the sanction-era games (Temple and Ohio U).

We need to be ready for this one. 11am start could mean sluggish start and Illini pounces on us early behind a jacked up home crowd. Then we are fighting for our lives. Need to hit the throttle from the get go and put the fighting Brett Bielema's away by halftime.
