PSU - Indiana Game Thread

Don’t worry gents. The offensive can score quickly from anywhere at anytime... oops not that time either .

Speaking of rotating offensive personnel, can we "rotate" offensive play calling in the red zone to someone other than Rahne?

Whoever called that boneheaded play should be fired at halftime!

UGH!!! Pathetic

We are sooo much better w 73 in at OG

For all his size, strength and toughness, Thorpe seems to always be either watching his assignment run by him, watching the RB get tackled, or helping Clifford up from a sack.......
. :(:confused::(

But he does it with ‘style’!

Was encouraged to see they kept Journey Brown in on that drive into the red zone, only to see them sub Levi's in for a questionable play call. Substitutions on offense seem to be killing any momentum.

That’s the first time in the game they said gross matos

sounds like a first rounder to me

I'm sooo tired of hearing "the staff this and the staff that." I don't know what it's rooted in and it stinks of ignorance. Franklin is a great coach and this is a good staff. Just a reminder that we are 8-1, #9, in the midst of a 6 game stretch in which we play 5 ranked teams, most of our team are underclassmen and we are without our best rusher and now our best WR. Get a grip!

Starting to understand why Franklin has never spent more that a year or two at any job. His plan is to come in, be a big rah rah recruiter, improve a crappy team a bit, then move on before anyone finds out he can't coach.

Gilmore is the annoying guy at work
Who has no favorite team and only talks sports when something
Bad happens or your team loses
Then he is waiting in your office Monday morning to ruin your day

It’s like they don’t realize who the audience is. 90% of the audience is Penn State fans. 5% Indiana and 5% other.

why do they think it makes sense to announce the game this way?!

mind you I am not asking for homerism but why root for Indiana. Just call the game.

All opposing defenses know the playcall when Levis comes in.

The team looks unprepared that is why you hear that.TeamQUOTE="LionsandBear, post: 4476041, member: 7910"]I'm sooo tired of hearing "the staff this and the staff that." How were you able to type this without an lol or winky face? Typed with a straight face? This team is regressing and the coaching staff is showing us they are not helping.

Ok, I'll be that guy.

Had the team been better coached and prepared last week they would be 9-0, #3 in the CFP and not sleepwalking through the first half against a good but not great Indiana team. Many of the issues we saw last week some of the "complainers" on this board have been talking about for weeks - knowing that our team would eventually get caught, although many of us figured it would be Ohio State boat racing them, not Minnesota making them look foolish in the first half.

The secondary is confused, was last week as well, leaving receivers wide open for big plays. Further, where has that all-American DL gone? Not much pressure not he QB exposing our at-times weak secondary. The offense has no urgency, takes too long to get plays in risking delay or burning timeouts, and the red zone play calling costs points both last week and this week. On that 3&G from the 9 there were NO receivers in the end zone. The defense has a lot less space to cover in that area, why not make them cover all of it? How about the pair of fades to 5'9" Hamler last week in the end zone hoping he'd get the ball over the 6'3" defender? Just plain dumb.

I have no doubts that Franklin is the head coach we want but he needs very strong and competent coordinators under him for his style to work. Pry has appeared the part for the most part but, despite looking good in the Fiesta Bowl, Rahne has left a lot to be desired.

Admittedly, execution has not helped. Clifford throwing short of receivers, to open space, and receivers dropping very catchable balls last week have certainly hurt the team as well. One or two catches instead of drops and last week was a win but the coaches are not helping by not giving the players the best opportunities to succeed.

And enough about the playoff
Some of us like to watch a game and don’t rely on the latest poll controversy for our dopamine fix

Gilmore is annoying. How many times can they mention IU gets the ball to begin the 2nd half. Then what they don't say but are thinking is I hope Indiana scores to open the 3rd quarter and then goes on to pull a big upset because I would find that really cool to be here when that happens. Clowns.

Sitting in the shade in WEU. The offense just can't stay in rhythm. Should win this game though. At least the secondary is getting their assignments right now. Oh well.

Well without Hamler for the rest of the game, this offense will give us a little indication of what it’s going to look like next year...

Second half is a chance for another WR to step up. Would love to see Clifford get some confidence in a third guy.
