PSU MBB thread. Up 9-5 on Colgate hitting 3 threes. Reeves just came in. First

PSU up 30-23 at the half. Carr is the real deal. Stevens only played about 10 min because of 2 fouls.

These guys are for real. Predict 20+ wins and at least an NIT bid. Players expect to be playing in April.

Decent team not a 20 game winner.
Will compete with anyone.
Need consistency.
Good speed but don't seem to take advantage of it.

agree, this is probably not a 20 win team, but let's remember, we are 6 games into the playing careers of 3(4 if you count watkins) of our starters. let's give them a little time to gel as a team, understand roles and gain much needed experience. this is a very talented group with a decent bench. i see a future of great bb at ps down the road.

We really should be blowing Colgate out. They lost to NJIT for heaven sakes. I'm not just not seeing what you guys see to think this is a good team. Their outside shooting is horrible.

And I'm seeing no improvement from game to game. Same issues, same problems, same weaknesses. Hung with Duke, then got blown out by Cincy, then battled with Colgate. It just seems to be the same as the past five years.

kind of like fb the last three years till this year? i'll be happy if pat can coach as poorly as jf has.

Six games into the season. Last night was Reaves' first game. Plenty of new players in the starting lineup. I'm not expecting miracles this year. Also, I'm reserving judgement until the team has played more games. This is a work in progress for sure.

You can pretty much judge an NBA team by how they play in the beginning of the season. They're all pros, and there is very little room for growth at that level. But NO, you shouldn't judge any college team in that way; and you shouldn't especially judge our team, Penn State, that way.

We have 5 key players that are in their first year and have only played 6 games at most together (Carr, Stevens, Watkins, Samuel and Bostick). Do you see the difference? It really is like comparing apples with oranges. You can't expect these young guys to automatically jell like they're pros. They're mostly 18 and 19 year olds. Watch for the little things that they do well. You'll appreciate the team more when you do.
