Being played at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, IL where the Women played last week.

Teams play 54 holes, then low 15 teams play 18 holes on Mon to determine low 8 teams.

The 8 teams then go to match play Tues and Wed.

The Solheim Cup was played there in 2009.

The Golf Channel has extensive coverage Mon - Wed, nothing this weekend.

Have you played there Illy? We did some work a few years back on their indoor practice facility. The owner didn't spare many expenses.

The first round wasn't actually finished when you made the post (half the teams didn't finish yesterday).

Still PSU doesn't look like they will move up when the round is finished this morning.

Also, the individual champion is crowned at the end of stroke play on Monday. PSU doesn't have anyone realistically in contention at the moment.

Here are the leaderboards: Team Player

When my club (Skokie CC, Glencoe IL) hosted The Western Amateur in 2010, I marshaled/spotted eight hours the first day.

Then played several other courses that week including Beverly on the south side and yes, did get to play Rich Harvest. I had gone out to The Solheim Cup in 2009 when Rich Harvest hosted the event. Jerry Rich spared no expenses the place is first class.

Quite a place, quite a course. Watched a lot of the Golf Channel this past Mon - Wed and plan to do so again this coming Mon - Wed.

Skokie again hosts The Western Amateur the end of July - beginning of Aug.....I have the same gameplan and hope Rich Harvest is again on the available list for our members to play that week.

SCC is rated #8 in IL, waiting for the new Golf Digest Best-in-State rankings to be released. Gene Sarazen won the US Open at our place in 1922, nice history to have.

The weather that plagued the Women last week continued to plague the Men yesterday afternoon, although at least the weather was warmer. A good forecast for today so the teams still out on the course will finish this morning and the entire field will have their first two rounds completed later this afternoon.

Quite a shame as the PSU Golf Team like the football team is a second half team. : )

Illy: Saw this on Trevor Immelman's twitter feed today. Elkington looking at a set of Hogan's clubs. Pretty cool.

We got recruits named: Palmer, Woods, Nicklaus, Mickelson, and Kite coming in next year.

We will own them biotches for the next 4 years!

Your age is really showing with that post. Are you sure you didn't mean Spieth, Fowler, McIlroy, Day, and Johnson?

BTW - the team is really young. The five guys playing in Illinois are two freshmen, two sophs, and one junior. So the future is positive.

Didn't you read the other thread?! Nobody cares about any of the other sports besides football.

Good showing by the team overall. As Lar pointed out they are very young. Good experience for them before they head out for Open qualifying and summer amateur golf.
