We will not be able to recruit the number of 4-5 star kids that OSU does. Why? The kids going to OSU are FOOTBALL only, PSU is both football and education (hence the high graduation rates). That being said, most that go to OSU plan on leaving ASAP (as close to one and done as possible).
What will, in my opinion, allow us to compete because most of our kids will stay (certainly there are exceptions, but not many. That extra year or two will create the experience to compete with the "younger" talent at OSU. Not sure what Michigan is planning, last year they had an all senior team, which made them pretty good. I think Peppers was the only underclassman to leave?

If a junior is ready to play in the NFL he's going to leave early and do it regardless of where he's playing. They'd be crazy not to. OSU recruits well and some of their players are going to leave after their junior year. I'd love to see Saquon Barkley play at PSU for two more seasons but if he repeats the season he had last year he'll be gone. If JF keeps the recruiting momentum going it'll be more common in the future to see PSU players leaving early.

So why is OSU's graduation rate not significantly lower than PSU's, 74% v 80% for the last reporting period?

Probably right, I just think we will have more staying to finish their education. In short, a number of our guys are a tad behind the OSU guys and need a bit more development to be NFL ready. Barkley is clearly not one of those. Godwin made the right decision, after the year he had.
While I think a Gesicki needed the extra year. He is kind of the example I'm referring to.

Not sure how those numbers are derived. Do they include all of the juniors that leave early at OSU?
Are they from the "system" the NCAA created a few years ago to "make things look better" at the factories.

On this we will have to disagree, but that's just me. OSU is a fine school. student-ATHLETES have never been important, just winning
I personally know a great many OSU grads and all of them think we are a joke expecting football players to be "able to read". Sort of like the bumper sticker that says" my kid beat up you honor student kid".

Many of these kids, at both schools, are taking majors and are on campus so they can get a degree in 3 years

I can give you 48.5 million reasons. Some don't want to take the potential pay cut by trying the NFL and I guess some are smart enough to graduate in three years.

This is why Joe never pushed for NCAA minimum graduation rates. Said it would lead to "Mickey Mouse" majors at the factories.

And as much fun as we have with that Cardale Jones quote, he's back at OSU finishing his degree requirements.

Ask Maurice Clarett..............from his book, he met with an adviser for an independent study course for the first time at the end of November. He was given a index card with 3 sentences on it and told to write a paper and find a way to fit those brilliant thoughts into his masterpiece. I wonder if he got a 3 credit A for that academic achievement?

So every football player at OSU had the same exact experience?

So, you are saying OSU, PSU, Mississippi, USC - all the same. AND I have this bridge to Brooklyn you might be interested in Professor Wagstaff :)

Got to go, Phillies are on.

I don't know if one wants to use the term "Mickey Mouse"........ but by any measure (or term) that's what you got - at least on a relative scale - at essentially every "big time" program, including PSU.

Is it driven by a quest for "Graduation Rates"?
IDK
But it is what it is

Good for him. Hopefully his African-American and African studies degree is worth more than one from UNC.

All joking aside, it is good to hear he will get his degree and (sort of) apologized for his stupid tweet.
