PSU - UMD line opens at with Lions as 12 point favorites

At home it may be low but they are 6-3. It's not a layup and we keep getting OL injured. Maybe Indiana couldn't take advantage but Maryland should be tougher.
What has happened to Maryland? I expected Tualia to still be hurt looking at the score yesterday; he played.
Jarrett and Demus held to 2 catches, less than 20 yards?
Wisky had 2 backs go for over 100 rushing. Sounds to me like Allen and Singleton should do the same.
I would have thought PSU -7 until I saw how Wisconsin's defense manhandled the Maryland OL. Now I don't know what to think.
I know one thing. I'm not putting too much stock on PSU's win over Indy yesterday. Indy lost 5 in a row and they rolled over after briefly putting up a fight in Q1.

Honestly, I think you'll see that 12 climbing. Because I agree with you...it seems low.
The weather, rain and wind. Tua was not effective. I expect things to be different this Saturday.
Maryland will be the third best team we play this year supplanting Purdue. Indiana is the worst team we have played this year. The line probably should be less than a score.
+ Tua was sacked 5 times, maybe a good sign for our defense to game plan.
Minnesota beat Maryland pretty handily with Morgan only throwing for 120ish yards.
I think PSU covers but Maryland has a pretty impressive Fr. runningback and wouldn't surprise me if they have some success running the ball.
You're thinking of last year; Minn and UMD haven't played this year. I think UMD is comparable to Purdue, a team they lost to at home in a fairly evenly played game. The line is probably about right, but they're not a team that should be taken lightly.
I agree. I believe the line moving from 14.5 to 13.5 were the reports of our OLine injuries combined with being on the road and coming off a huge 4th Q letdown the previous week. Also, the rainy weather during the NW game was sloppy in which team execution was poor. Weather forecast in Bloomington for Saturday was looking bad, too. Glad the line was wrong and hope this week’s line is, too.
We played a Purdue team that returned more starters than any other big 10 team on the road to open the season. Purdue wasn't going to improve the way other teams would throughout the season. They were at their best in game 1 due to the mass of returning starters.
We have relied heavily on true freshmen through sophmores at many critical positions. If we replay Purdue later in the season, we would beat them by a much larger margin. Teams are not static.
Again--we played down to Purdue. Purdue was not good even then. We all know this. We let them hang around in that game. Clifford was actually great early and we had way too many drops.
MD is kind of schizophrenic and have been for several years. They jump up and bite someone every year and then play poorly for the next several games. They get UP for our games as, probably, their biggest football rivalry. Remember when Diggs wouldn't shake hands pre game?
They've got several good skill-set guys but lack depth, especially on the OL and DL. If you give them a chance to play and get momentum, it will be a tough day. If you pound them like Wiscy did, it takes the starch out and ends up being a solid victory.
My biggest concern is SC giving up two or three turnovers in the first half. If we take care of the ball we'll be just fine.

They can get up all they want each year but the result is always the same. Penn State is 41-3-1 vrs Maryland all time including many beat downs. It will be 42-3-1 come Saturday.
I remember all those one and two point wins over good Maryland teams in the mid 80s. They were physical under Bobby Ross.
The talking heads on the BTN Show yesterday were talking about how OSU has a tough game against Maryland before they play Michigan, so they believe that Maryland is a worthy opponent. I admit that I haven't watched a single down of a Maryland game this season, but I'm surprised at their record because it seems as if they haven't been played well in most of their games just based on the scores.
Maryland seems to have quit after the Purdue loss. Close games with Indiana and NW before dropping one to Wisconsin.
At their best, close game with Michigan. That was weeks ago.
I can see this game close for a quarter a la Indiana before talent wins out. Much like every game, Clifford can't turn the ball over 2+ times. They have struggled to run except against poor defenses. Their passing is slightly above average and we should matchup great there.
We all know how it goes. If OSU plays Maryland the Terps are scrappy and tough. If PSU steamrolls them it's because they suck and our schedule is soft. If PSU loses it's because we're down the tubes as a program. I've been hearing this same dichotomy for 40 years.
