Teachers in SCASD have been let go for helping on PSSAs

In Atlanta, the higher scores the kids get, the more cash bonus the teacher gets. This is ridiculous, since it leads to teaching to the test, which is simply test taking skills and cuts out and "fun" learning, and also leads to situations like this. That being said, if it was proven to the jury that they were doing it for the money, then I guess it's fair. 7 years is quite a bit of jail time though, considering how lenient the punishment was for the two teachers that plead out.

I agree, having that judge was a nightmare

for these folks.

Way to harsh a sentence...plus their bonus system set it up.

What's sad is they changed a lot of wrong answers as well

Blame George Bush No Child Left Behind caused the the dumb testing and the cheating

92% of student's score on standardized test is independent

of school effects. 95% of their score is independent of teacher effect. Using a measure that is at least 92% wrong to judge teachers or schools should be a crime. Can't believe that there is another profession in the US that would allow this.

Yeah, blame it on Bush! Geesh, standardized testing...

existed well before Bush. It existed before Reagan as well. Maybe blame it on Ford since he was the republican president before Reagan.
