I was looking at the photo gallery on TOOS, and in one of the photos of John Reid running a drill, the next player in line is wearing jersey #22. That # was "retired" after last season when Akeel Lynch left.

There's no one listed on the official roster with that number. Are practice jerseys not necessarily the same # as the player's game jersey? Did John Cappelletti perhaps waive the retirement of #22?

Just curious amid the euphoria of Lamont Wade's commitment. Thanks.

Could be a scout team player simulating another teams star player. Sometimes they will have the scout guys wear a number of someone who the staff feels is someone they need to key on. Don't know if this is the case or not

If this is the case, then wouldn't it have been a different color jersey?

Can you link the picture?

Not necessarily the regular d, and the scout team D could both be in white the picture was probably taken during individual drills and then they would split up. Hey I don't know in this case, but it could be what happened

I personally think retiring college players #'s is dumb. So many great players, how do you pick just one guy? No offense to John C but if you're retiring his # why aren't you retiring Wally Trippletts #, a guy who actually made a historical impact on sports in general in a HUGE way?

At least we aren't Pitt, they seem to retire the jersey of every one of their kids who ever got drafted... ;)

Well, it's so rare when that happens they got to celebrate it somehow....kinda like when OSU actually graduates a player.
