I am going to show my ignorance here but I have been wondering what skills you would look for in a high school kid that makes him a 5 star safety prospect. [Wade for us Fitzpatrick Alabama I think is a safety, Peppers etc.]
It seems to me evaluating a corner prospect is a bit easier as an elite corner should be able to play man against a team's best receiver.
But a safety needs to provide a lot of run support and don't they effectively play a lot of zone type coverage?
My guess is these guys who play safety probably didn't even play safety in HS.
There was a fair amount of angst about our safety play in the Rose Bowl and it got to me wondering what a guy like Wade could bring to that situation.
