So with both Singleton and Allen coming back, is there any experimentation with Martin at WR? Certainly couldn’t hurt and might very well help.
Does Martin want to change positions? I'd wager not.So with both Singleton and Allen coming back, is there any experimentation with Martin at WR? Certainly couldn’t hurt and might very well help.
He split out frequently in high school. So with both Singleton and Allen coming back, is there any experimentation with Martin at WR? Certainly couldn’t hurt and might very well help.
He also played CB in high school. But expecting him to play anywhere other than RB at PSU seems like a pipe dream. His next best position might be Safety, but I'm not expecting that either. He split out frequently in high school.
More nfl money for wideouts these days than running backs, no?Does Martin want to change positions? I'd wager not.
Zero catches for zero yards. I don't care if his second best position is security cop, you move him to wr and see if he can give you 1 catch for 15 yards. That's an upgrade. He also played CB in high school. But expecting him to play anywhere other than RB at PSU seems like a pipe dream. Sure...if you're an elite or great WR but he clearly is going to want a shot at RB. It okay to use him in the slot sometimes like Singleton but I can't imagine a position change. I think he'd portal before thatMore nfl money for wideouts these days than running backs, no?
I don't give a shit if the kid is 5'7 and 230 pounds. If he is better than the dog shit that cost us a chance at the national championship, then move him out there and see if he can run patterns, not quit on them, and fight for the ball.6-1 205 is a bit more of a wr body. It is not necessarily a B1G rb body without another 10-15 lbs.

A good idea IMO.So with both Singleton and Allen coming back, is there any experimentation with Martin at WR? Certainly couldn’t hurt and might very well help.
Seems like a no brainer spring experiment to me. If it works, then its genius. So with both Singleton and Allen coming back, is there any experimentation with Martin at WR? Certainly couldn’t hurt and might very well help.
Yes I see him at wr next yearSo with both Singleton and Allen coming back, is there any experimentation with Martin at WR? Certainly couldn’t hurt and might very well help.
Any chance he goes to the portal? Sitting on the bench next year can't be in his plans.Yes I see him at wr next year
He certainly could portal if he is 4 or below on the RB depth chart. Coaches would have to be sure a move would work and convince him.Any chance he goes to the portal? Sitting on the bench next year can't be in his plans.
Its basically a given that at least 1 RB will hit the portal with the two starters backHe certainly could portal if he is 4 or below on the RB depth chart. Coaches would have to be sure a move would work and convince him.
I said we see him at wr, we will get him more involved next year.Any chance he goes to the portal? Sitting on the bench next year can't be in his plans.
When you really see him at WR, let us know!!!Yes I see him at wr next year
Have you seen him on a scale lately? He's likely adding muscle to his frame daily in the S&C program as most young RB's do during their first couple years in college football.6-1 205 is a bit more of a wr body. It is not necessarily a B1G rb body without another 10-15 lbs.
It is? We’ll see.Its basically a given that at least 1 RB will hit the portal with the two starters back
AgreeIts basically a given that at least 1 RB will hit the portal with the two starters back
It will take patience on their part (RBs) to wait for their opportunity. That might be in short supply with RBs who want PT now.It is? We’ll see.
I have not seen him. I am going on the latest PSU roster info, which is generally very current. I think we all know the sizes required in this conference to succeed. His current build is not conducive for a long haul B1G season. Now, if he gets up to 215 - 220 that will is more ideal. Singleton is an inch shorter and 21 pounds heavier with great speed at 6-0 226. I know Martin was fantastic in high school. I’m looking forward to him succeeding at PSU. He looked good in the blue white game last year.Have you seen him on a scale lately? I think this is more likely than him him moving to WRAny chance he goes to the portal? Sitting on the bench next year can't be in his plans.
Yep, but in Janurary thru the beginning of spring practices is the time when some players really mature physically in the Winter S&C program. So it seems reasonable to see how Martin looks and how he's listed in the pre Spring practice gopsusports roster. Martin was rightly looked at as an "athlete" as a recruit by some evaluators. I doubt Belle Vernon's S&C program was as serious as say IMG's. Singleton was a pure RB in H.S. but wasn't 226 his first year at PSU, which is why I believe some here aren't giving Martin a chance to mature before they flippantly try and make a WR out of him......I have not seen him. Those things are often what spring is about. So should be an interesting thing to keep an eye on. I know I'm going way back here but Joe Paterno put Jimmy Cefalo in the pros by moving him from RB to Receiver. He certainly could portal if he is 4 or below on the RB depth chart. Coaches would have to be sure a move would work and convince him.

5 current ones and 2 freshmen, so yeah one of the backups will be gone, even if not by choice. Cant have 7RB with 105 capIt is? We’ll see.
And he doesn't want to do that and portals at the end of the season after catching 5 passes all season.Zero catches for zero yards. I don't care if his second best position is security cop, you move him to wr and see if he can give you 1 catch for 15 yards. That's an upgrade.
Then let him portal.....why do we worry about kids leaving so much. I can't think of someone that left that was a dominant force and led their new teams to better heights. FUCMAnd he doesn't want to do that and portals at the end of the season after catching 5 passes all season.
Because he was the highest rated guy in the '24 class and can be a huge contributor after Singleton and Allen leave next season. Just letting him portal would be a terrible decision. Then let him portal.....why do we worry about kids leaving so much. I can agree with what you have said here. My question is this:Because he was the highest rated guy in the '24 class and can be a huge contributor after Singleton and Allen leave next season. Just letting him portal would be a terrible decision.
We probably can use him as a slot WR for certain sets next season but I think it is unrealistic to simply move him to a full time WR. It seems we would have done that last season. It is not like we had a good WR room last season.

If it was only that easy to just line up and be a good B10 WR. But it's not, which is why the staff is looking elsewhere to solve the WR talent vacuum. In H.S. all Martin had to do was take a jet sweep, or run out and catch a ball against inferior athletes. He’s an insane athlete, the RB room is stacked. Will not get many carries at RB. He will absolutely be part of the plan to try and fix this WR room. Fixing the WR room is priority 1,2, and 3 this offseason.
He’s going to be our RB in 2026, he knows this. He’ll want as many reps as he can get, whenever, wherever. Being a WR for 1 year will help him tremendously in the passing game when he’s a RB in the future. Would be impressive to NFL scouts as well.
He has 7 months to get it down. I get what everyone is saying but I will bet if his carries are similar to this year he is gone next year.If it was only that easy to just line up and be a good B10 WR. But it's not. If he wants to compete to be a RB in 2026 he needs to keep learning the positions and adding the size in the S&C program that RB's need, which is vastly different from what a WR would do.
Could be. But he'll more than likely "be gone" as a RB....He has 7 months to get it down. I get what everyone is saying but I will bet if his carries are similar to this year he is gone next year.
FWIW, Martin in 2024 hadZero catches for zero yards. I don't care if his second best position is security cop, you move him to wr and see if he can give you 1 catch for 15 yards. That's an upgrade.
I agree. Maybe the kid is happy playing behind the 3 others that were obviously ahead of him this year. Maybe he is happy to know he might have been #5 had whats his name not gotten hurt. Maybe he loves the girls at PSU.....I have no clue.....i just know most competitors, if offered, want to be on the field, not the sidelines.Could be. But he'll more than likely "be gone" as a RB....
