and must withdraw from the Memorial with a 6 stroke lead, at -18 after his third round 64......

Morikawa and Cantlay now in the lead at -12, 3 strokes ahead of Grace and Scheffler.

Wonder if that might also impact Cantlay and Scheffler, who were playing with him? In the past if you had close contact with someone that tested positive it was recommended that you isolate as well. I’m sure they will both be tested tomorrow

I wonder if they tested him more than once.? He felt so bad i guess he thought he better take a few less strokes.

I am not a Rahm fan in the slightest in fact I root against him. However if his playing partners for tomorrow and his caddie were vaccinated why not let him play?

If they won’t let him play, just cancel the f*cking thing. How could any self-respecting supposed pro accept the GREEN. JACKET. o_O under these circumstances?

Golf is probably the most "rules" bound sport there is- expecting them to change their rules makes as much sense as expecting the sun to rise in the west- it isn't going to happen.

Does that mean he's also out of the US Open which starts in less than 2 weeks?

I believe the rules are the players dont need to be tested if they have been vaccinated, even if they come into contact with a positive person. So, this means Rahm probably wasn't vaccinated- his choice, his loss. An expensive choice for sure.

It was total BS they told him after finishing an epic round of golf just off the 18th green. Why not bring him inside? I'm sure the Tour knew way before he got to 18. Unlike several American golfers who are impossible to root for, I like Rahm.

The PGA informed the players that they would not even need to be tested if they were fully vaccinated. This was in April. You do the math. I did say IF, in capital letters. That’s why the English language is so great. Look, I’ll do it again, IF he was not vaccinated by choice he got exactly what he deserved. See how that IF thing works?

lol I'd sue the pga tour tomorrow for the full winner's purse + damages if I were him.

If I was advising him, I'd have started with making sure he got vaccinated.

Same. He clearly doesn’t believe in science. If he was listening to what the science says, he would have gotten it. He’s anti-science/anti-vaxxer trash.

Kick him off the tour, Doug!

I’m not a doctor, but I have 2 years of high school chem under my belt along with a class on fungus I took as a gen ed at PSU, but more importantly, I BELIEVE IN SCIENCE, and therefore, will lecture and shame anyone who doesn’t BELIEVE IN SCIENCE.

They told him on Monday that through contract tracing he was in their COVID protocol. He had indoor restrictions and had to be tested everyday. The test between 2nd round and 3rd round came back positive. They did not remove him immediately because they wanted another test done on same sample to confirm the positive test. They got the confirmation results when he was finishing up the 18th hole. The PGA seems to have a logical COVID protocol unlike some other sports. They did not want to pull him without a 2nd positive. Could they have figured out a way for an asymptomatic positive to continue to play golf? Probably. If DeChambeau showed signs of the FLU tomorrow before his round, the PGA would probably pull him unless they get a negative result back. It is the world we are living in,

So if I get the ‘ro i can shoot a 64 at the memorial? Just think if he was healthy! He’d shoot a 54!

That's a little harsh, but yeah- he made a choice and now will have to live with it.
What choice did he make that was so harsh? Rahm has probably followed regulations to a T. After all, he just became a father a couple months ago, I am sure he has been over-cautious with a baby daughter. Let the guy play as a single, he is perfectly healthy.

obviously he is not perfectly healthy

had he chosen to get the vaccine, he would be- his choice

I got the Janssen (J & J) vaccine about 2 months ago. Do you think I should have gotten one of the other 2? What is the vaccine comprised of? Where did you study epidemiology? Just how effective will the vaccine be for me? Would John Rahm have been fully protected had he got the vaccine? How far in advance would he have had to get it? Can we assume he will make a full recovery?

Thanks!!!

I’m sure he was well informed on all the facts of getting the vaccine vs. not and what happens if he tests positive at anytime on tour. He made his choice and now he will have to live with his decision. It’s not like this will be his last chance for a pay day.

As a medical professional, I find it repugnant to state " IF he was not vaccinated by choice he got exactly what he deserved." Covid is still a potentially a fatal disease. I would never make the statement you did, in particular with political overtones. It's a reprehensible statement. I urge you to reconsider.

That's his best work, unfortunately. It is what it is.

Well he could have gotten vaccinated and none of this would be happening. And the vaccines are not experimental
Not true. While it is alot less likely that he would have gotten Covid had he been vacinated earlier...he still could have gotten Covid. We all need to remember getting vaccinated does not 100% keep you from getting Covid. But it sure helps.

Would that include toenail fungus which seems to be running rampanthere? 😢 We may have to speak in the near future.
