I hope I made you proud Greg!!!!!
You and nits74 got us a win. Good work! Finally got there at 3:45, it was fortunate we'd been planning to meet our family at 2. Great night for baseball, great atmosphere, great game, great time.
We do our best. Yet another heart stopper. You and nits74 got us a win. Good work!
I don't know how they keep winning. The offense has more holes in it than a block of Swiss cheese. They have a hell of a hard time with the stinko Reds and Steroid Brewers at the bottom of the division. They still don't walk, strike out wayyyyyy too much and can't spell curve.
But you don't get 20 over .500 by being lousy. You are what your record says you are.
Just heard today that they have the second highest BA against since the all star break (Colorado is 1st), and they have the fifth highest ERA. Small sample (20 games), but it is a bit concerning.Their offense, while very inconsistent, is much better than given credit for here. Honestly I think their base running is the biggest offensive deficiency and costs them many runs. I really don't know how to quantify it because common stats don't pick it all up... for example take an extra base when they shouldn't, don't take one when they should, out stealing when they actually beat the play, etc., etc. I wish I could understand why that stuff is so pervasive on this team. It's not just one or two guys. With the starting pitching falling off considerably the second half (AJ's first half is not replaceable), these little things will probably cost them some games. Hopefully they continue to make up for it in other ways, like pitchers hitting HR's and driving in runs

Hopefully it's just a lull and not burnout.Yep. I think I posted it awhile back, but their team ERA was second to Cardinals in each of the months of April through June. In July the Cards stayed #1 while the Bucs slipped to....22!! August not off to a great start either, although I do think they solidified the bullpen with the Soria and Caminero has looked better.
