Lose 3 straight to a mediocre team then a slugging win against a very good team.

I still don't understand why Hurdle came out of the break with Morton, Worley (Liriano), and Locke, when Burnett could have gone in the first game followed by Cole.

It seemed like Cole knew he wasnt throwing against the Brewers as he said in an interview at the ASG that he could go multiple innings since he wasnt throwing the first couple games. Maybe just to give him a rest for the late season push and playoffs? Maybe so that he throws against the Royals and Nats? I'd really like to know Hurdle's thought process for the rotation because it's even odder to me that he would put his two lefties on consecutive days.

In the last 5 games against the only 2 teams in baseball with better records, the Bucs are 4-1 (6-1 in the last 7).

I guess I'm just being a contrary dickhead here, but waiting until the morning after the game to call "Raise It" seems a little lame to me. If you guys are going to go this route, a more punctual "Raise It" seems to me to be the more appropriate way to go. This happens quite frequently, guys. C'mon, get with the the program.

While I'm being a contrary dickhead, Fairgambit, you know the gif of Charles Foster Kane clapping you use from time to time? You do realize the context of that scene in the film? He's clapping because his wife sucks, royally sucks, at opera singing and he's too embarrassed to do anything else. You tend to use this gif when a great round of applause is totally called for and all I can think of when I see that gif is seeing Kane thinking "This sucks balls but I'll clap because I need to bullshit people around me." Kind of takes the joy out of the moment for me. Just saying. Carry on. Go Bucs.

He was obviously setting up his pitching rotation for upcoming series with the top teams. Would you have rather had Liriano, Locke and Morton against KC than AJ, Cole & Morton? He figured Liriano, Locke and Morton could get 2 out of 3 from Milwaukee. Unfortunately Liriano had to be scratched.

Feel free to be a DH from time to time.

But as far aw Raising It goes, "It" needs to get raised one way or the other and it's better late than never as far as I'm concerned.

I'd rather have had 3 more wins before last night's game, and then let the chips fall where they may against a very good team on the road. As it was we won last night even though Burnett pitched like his name was Worley, Locke, or Morton.

Well, Jim, at 11:54 last night, shortly after the game, I posted this http://bwi.forums.rivals.com/thread...all-if-so-the-result-was-franklinesque.24750/ so the Jolly Roger was raised in a timely fashion.
As to the clapping gif, you are correct that I use it only for special moments. Being a seasoned veteran of this Board, you realize that things are taken out of context all the time and so I will continue to use it as I have. However, being the sensitive guy that I am, in the future I will try to post a LionJim caution in my subject line. Given my age, it is unlikely I will remember, but I will try.:)

Mr. Know-It-All!

GEEESH!

Lion Jim, the "raise it", no matter when it is done, will still allow room for such meaningful threads as good movies, good TV series, pretzels, beer, women, automobiles, snakes, and dogs. So it's all good.

I should have stated the obvious. Some of us here are older and it just takes longer to raise it.:D

Amen. Hey had to come back out of the break with a scheduled starter list based on a number of factors. That said, more concerned about the left side of the infield the next 4-6 weeks than anything else. Depth will be challenged big time now. Kang will have to step up and we'll continue to need production from someone at 1B to help drive in runs, whoever that may be. The pitching should be fine. We just can't afford another key injury in the lineup. Beat 'em Bucs!

There could be a couple of reasons. First, I think he wanted the big guys to be available for the Royals and the Nationals. Second, I think its possible he was trying to get Burnett a little rest in the middle of a long season. Morton and Locke both pitched well in their starts. The Pirates lost those games because the didn't hit not because of Morton and Locke.
