Raise it!

Zastryzny the win.
"long ago in a far away place" the Glov, RIP, and I would start a thread like this one for every Bucco's win. i.e. until the Grinch decreed that all Pirates threads for a whole season had to be combined into one ongoing thread. A sad day for democracy and freedom that clearly still shows on the new board.

But I gave up what some refer to as major league baseball, so although I applaud you I'm not planning to contribute.... :(

I'm sure that this season is going to produce another last or second to last place finish. However, despite the ridiculous owner, I believe that the current GM is doing a pretty good job in rebuilding the farm system and making the MLB team a little more competitive. This team does have several young players that are exciting and have legitimate potential. Unfortunately, it looks like one of the starting pitchers is going to miss the season, which is devastating for a team like the Pirates who still are building depth. Maybe in a few more years, they can get lucky for a few seasons like the Royals did in 2014 and 2015 and compete for something.

Never thought that I would get into April with the Pirates in first place and undefeated....what a great start. 1-0 against that Juggernaut Team....the Cinci Reds......

And just like that it's back to normal. 1-2 and right on schedule to be eliminated in June.

F#ck you Nutting.

Is baseball ever fun? I mean, watching it--not playing it.
I actually did enjoy it until probably the mid 90s but it's been a long time
It's fun if your owner isn't a cheap a$$ white collar criminal who steals money from fans with zero intentions on fielding a competent or competitive baseball club.

It's amazing they were at any point even if that was 1-0. Hopefully they lose 120
Several Pittsburgh media members have predicted that they’ll win in the upper 70s this season. I don’t see that with their pitching staff.

I don't see that either. And I hope it doesn't happen because if we do hover around 500 it just enables this teams to continue not to spend as people will come out.

The Pittsburgh sports ‘media’ are complicant in the sham called the Pirates. Every year they say the team is improved. That they signed good free agents. That the young guys are ready for the big time. All lies.

They do it because their jobs depend on it. They need people to hope and believe. If people know the truth they will stop watching sports news, stop buying papers or going to their webpages, or listening to their podcasts or radio shows or tv call in shows.

And if they are critical and tell the truth they will lose access. No more clubhouse interviews, no being buddies with big stars. No more VIP treatment.

Start calling Pompeani’s tv show and call him out. Same with the radio shows. Take down the whole cabal.

Except Pompeani himself is extremely critical of Nutting...all the old school Burgh media tells the truth about Nutting and it still can't force MLB into making him sell.

By the way Pomps daughter is pretty hot.

Yet he and others praised signing Cutch. They say the team is better. They are predicting around five hundred. BS

yeah check back on June 1 and see if you are still surprised
The organization does have more talent in its ranks at all levels now, including the major league level. If they could win in the mid 70s, it would represent a significant step forward. Their lineup isn't bad now, so a lot of it will depend on whether their young starters can stay healthy and continue to get better; one of their starters (Brubaker) already basically is out for the season.

And another starting pitcher is 43 yrs old. Cutch is 36. How old is Carlos? 37? Cruz can’t hit anything other than a fastball….how long before teams throw him nothing by sliders, changeups, and curveballs?

And if Reynolds keeps up this pace by the trading deadline he will be worth three prospects and a has-been to be named later.

Believe me, I am very skeptical of this organization. However, I believe that the current GM is doing a good job. Regarding those older players, I believe that they were brought here to serve as mentors for the younger players, which is definitely needed, especially with the young Latin players like Cruz. Also, I believe that McCutchen still has a little left if he is used properly, and I also believe that he will end up as a coach after his playing career ends and maybe the eventual manager.

Time will tell with Cruz, but his physical gifts are undeniable. Also, it looks like they're on the verge of signing Reynolds to a new contract.
