Well, this isn't going to be a season in which they compete for anything, but I think that it can be a transitional season between being putrid and competing for a playoff spot, which maybe can be in a few seasons if most things go right.

This season probably will go the same way as 2011 and 2012 when they were very competitive for half of the season and then collapsed. However, those seasons were preludes to 2013, 2014 and 2015 when they made the postseason. I could see this current collection of young and talented players replicating what the aforementioned teams did by competing for a postseason position maybe by 2025.
I believe that it’s undeniable that the current GM is doing a really good job without the resources that he had in Boston when he built a World Series winner. If nothing else, they’ve been fun to watch.
