1. I think you could generate an index of my happiness by simply recording the fluctuations of Urban Myers' consumption of Gelusil, Maalox, and/or Kaopectate. As he uses more, my mood soars. He seemed truly anguished last night;

2. Any PSU recruit who was at that game or watched that game and decides not to come to PSU is a guy we do not want on our team;

3. Franklin's critics here are sort of out of business for a while;

4. It was only a matter of moments after the game when I began to hear how "young" OSU's team is;

5. I like Herbie ok, but that blocked FG followed by two sacks to end the game must have had him reaching for the antacids as well; and, a new one:

6. I would like to play OSU every year the week after they play Wisky. I think there was some soreness in that Buckeye squad that the whirlpools couldn't reach.

Herbie has always been fair to us. As he was last night.

I thought at the end he seemed pretty unhappy, but that's to be expected. He also had worked a very long day just to have the end of that day see his team lose a game they were expected to win.

In the end there is a good analysis of OSU on a few sites. Their road to the playoff has not changed. They beat UM and then win the BTChampionship game they are in.

I have seen a few posts about Fowler, guess I was to busy creating holes in my ceiling from all of the jumping up and down, but what exactly did he say that was upsetting?

One of the key observations, that was a surprise to me, was how PSU was able to get pressure on Barrett. Six sacks in the game. But the final one was so interesting: Four guys DL's rushing, not a single stunt. And Barrett has only about 2.5 seconds. That was impressive.

I don't think it's right to link it here, but 24/7 has an article with a lot of comments from recruits at the game.

That game does nothing to diminish OSU's playoff chances. In fact, they will use it as motivation. They still play Nebraska and Michigan so they hold their fortune in their hands.

Not quite true. If Michigan loses before losing to OSU and we run the table, we go to the B1G championship game.

Facade. Read his column a few weeks back how Franklin wasn't the right fit at penn state
If it's the article I'm thinking of, he didn't say that. The headline was misleading, as the article combined different points made by different people, but the headline made it sound like it was all Herbie's thoughts.

I don't dislike Herbie and he isn't anti-PSU, but the love fest for JT Barrett was gross and it made for a bad broadcast. OSU was not the better team last night for four quarters, but Herbie sure made it sound like the were.

Damn! I opened this thread thinking it was going to be random observations about the Freeh Report work paper review :D

Yes I know that is not possible due to the NDA. but still I can dream right?...

Didn't hear it because I listen to the radio broadcast but somebody said that he made a comment at some point last night along the lines of PSU has to feel good coming off the scandal and shame.

It took about 42 seconds after the game ended for a post about how the school that enables pedophiles didn't deserve to win that game to show up on my social media pages.

I never did feel any shame for JS's terrible crimes. I wonder if the jury members who watched the game (I'm guessing a majority of them) have concluded Mike lost a good job and deserves some compensation.

At the 2:23 mark, Fowler exact quote:
"You're talking about a football program that is still trying to emerge from, from sanctions, from shame, has not had a signature win under James Franklin."

Fowler should know better. He has Penn State roots, AND he's a sports industry professional. Such individuals should be held to a higher standard (of truth). I'd rather HE get it than some moron with no affiliation (ie no incentive to think it through).

(Edit-- @ 1:07 remaining, after Cabinda sack, during timeout)

Maybe you shouldn't follow whoever posted that stuff.
I didn't previously. But he responded to a tweet from someone I follow. I tend to relish d-bags like that, so I can either enlighten them or insult the shit out of them. After midnight, I'll just go directly for the dig or the insult.

To be clear, Fowler doesn't really have psu "roots". He lived in state college for a few years in junior high.

You sure it was from jumping up and down?

I think the shame comment was a misstep that Chris tried to bail out of, and knew right away that he misspoke. I think, if asked, he will apologize for it.

As far as Herbie, he did not comment on the non call. No he did not come out and claim it was a bad call, but he did not verify that it was a good call either. He didn't comment. It was Chris who said "some contact but not enough to draw a call" Herbie remained silent on the call itself, choosing to focus on the ball hitting the helmet of Clark, and the hand not being available to bring the ball in. Chris then doubled down on his defense by saying "they will be clamoring for interference in columbus, but that call was....close..".

the call was not mentioned again. Well, not by anyone on the telecast, I switched over to ESPNU, who had the only postgame coverage, right after ABC cut off air during post game, and those two nameless jackasses were yelling and screaming about how it should have been called.

I am simply shocked that Mush Mouf didn't weigh in, as he had to be torn about what to think or say, then again, that's an everyday problem for that illiterate moron anyway.

Also shockingly, no bitching from Galloway or Kannell. I would comment on Mark May, but since he doesn't qualify as an actual human being capable of thought or speech, he's out.

To quote Guns - "They got mad last night".... and i loved every freaking second of it....

He did say that
People are making that out to be more than it was. He was not being critical of PSU. In fact, he is right. PSU has (wrongly) been shamed, but it has been shamed nonetheless. Those that think he is anti PSU must have missed the emotion in his voice as he called Haley's TD and the smile on his face as he looked down at the post game celebration.

Herbie is a facade as well. He's still pi**ed from many years ago at the Home Depot Awards when Joe won an award and said to Herbie it's nice to see an Ohio State grad who can speak. (paraphrasing). He's an Ohio State Homer who hides it better than the others.

I'm pretty sure tosu IS a very young team that will need a new QB next year. They aren't going away and I expect them to run the table.

I don't expect we'll see a UM loss until they play tosu.

And I think the reason we didn't hear much excuse making from Herbie was that he just watched his team get out-muscled and knew they'd been whipped. One call doesn't change that.

And all that said, remember that tosu DID play a hard, physical game at Wisky while we were in the gym getting rested and strong... and getting reps and preparation time. I think all of that showed on Saturday night. [Getting Bell and Cabinda back kinda helped.. :) ]

[As an aside... imagine what the eagles r thinking after playing a hard nosed viking team... now they get to play AT dallas.. a very physical team that has an extra week to prepare. I've long favored a plan where any team in college or pros must go on the road after their bye week to offset the natural advantage they have just from having additional prep and rest. never gonna happen...]

There was a time back in the late 1990s or so when Wisky had a 5-6 year streak going where every team that played them *lost* the next week (excepting Michigan, the year they went undefeated). You might be able to make some $$ betting that way most years even now.

JT Barrett is a jr and will return next year. he's not an NFL QB, will be another on the long list of Myers' QBs who try to play WR in the pros. So its not like he's going to be a first round pick or anything. he's a very good college QB but doesn't translate to the NFL.
