Ringing in the New Year with a new leader — Intermat now has PSU (110.5) ahead of Iowa (89.5) by 21 points, with ASU and Michigan tied at #3 (67.5).

But they still have Iowa as the #1 dual team . . . say what?

PSU & Iowa changes since Dec 22:
125 - Spencer out; neither team ranked.
165 - Edsell up 3 spots to #24.
197 - Dean up 1 spot to #2, Warner up 1 spot to #5.

Hildebrandt, Suriano still absent from the rankings. Grandpa Mike hanging in there by a thread.

Would love to see an Intermat article explaining the dual meet ranking. They have Penn State ranked higher at 133, 141, 174, 184, 197 and Hwt. I have to think that once they add Hildebrandt and Ayala, Hildebrandt will be ranked higher.

How can Iowa rank lower in 7 out of 10 weights and be the higher ranked dual team?

My best hyothetical explanation is that they didn’t get around to updating the dual rankings. This was a tardy update, so maybe they got done with individual ranks, ran the formula on tournament, and said “eff it, we’ll get duals out next week.”

Lol. Seeding is where the outrage belongs but that won’t be known until early March.

Ducking or not, it doesn’t really affect who someone thinks is better than another.

For that matter, an undefeated Kerk on March 7 will be the #1 ranked wrestler and #1 seed no matter what Colton does. Kerk will win.

Caffey up to #10 on Intermat. Wins over (current) #2 and #7 this past weekend. Now THAT is interesting.
