Ray Rice to talk with Alabama players about treating women right

This would only happen in Bizarro World but it seems that Nick Saban believes Ray Ray is the perfect person to speak to the team. Unfreakinbelievable.

Actually, he may be exactly the right guy for this job. Who can better convey the message of what can happen to a young man's life and career if he can't control himself? You would hope men's behavior would be motivated by morals and understanding right from wrong. Sadly, a "don't let this happen to you" message may be more impactful for some.

I can sort of see it. He might be able to speak from the point of view of someone who's been there and perhaps has learned his lesson. Sort of like the scared straight stuff they tried with prisoners and kids.

Well they’ve already listened to Mike Tison describe his vegan diet. Also Rice was a last minute replacement, unfortunately Jeffery Epstein was no longer available.

That is spot on. I believe in redemption. Hopefully Ray has come to realize the harm he caused. He certainly fully understands the consequences of his actions and can hopefully convey that to young men who may be teetering on the edge of abusing women. I applaud Saban for having him in.

Maybe rice is being brought in to teach the bama players how to keep their womens in line.

Ray Rice lost his entire career to a woman who assaulted him in an elevator and he struck her back.

A woman whom, if I remember correctly, he later married.

So if she had not assaulted him he would not have retaliated and .....he would have been a perennial All Pro?

What’s the message to send? Let her attack you and just stand and take it?

Someone please confirm my recollection is correct.

I think it's pretty simple, if your a man and you lay your hands on a woman....you're a coward. If you are a pro athlete and do this and it is seen where you drop a woman....you'll probably lose your career over it.

This is pretty accurate. In the video, she didn't look at all scared of him while she kept smacking him around. So I think we can assume he had never struck her before. Finally, he had enough and snapped. But when he snapped, he went way overboard and knocked her out cold. Can't do that. He should have walked away.

This drives me nuts. You still see tv shows and movies where women punch, kick and throw things at men and its supposed to be "funny". Its not. It sends the message to men and women that violence in relationships is acceptable behavior.

JMO but he's the perfect choice to talk to them. Basically he can say "look I had it all and lost it all in one night in an elevator. Don't do what I did".
Reformed is not a dirty word in fact its a good thing.

You want to learn to rob a bank? Ask a bank robber, not a cop.
You want to learn what happens when you smack a woman, as pro athlete? Ask a pro athlete who has done it and had to face the consequences (however they may be), not a guy who hasn't faced it.

Just a thought, maybe ask a woman who has been slapped around. You know, an actual victim.
