RBY at Poland Open, Sun 6/23

It looks like there are only three guys who showed up for 57kg.

RBY with two techs and I imagine he's done for the day.

RBY teched Fafe 13-2. Fafe started the match on one knee, lol. RBY gave up the initial takedown and took a minute to figure things out, and then poured it on. 4 takedowns, 2 exposures, and a step-out.

1st match is bout 203, approx 35 mins from start of feed.

2nd match is bout 209, immediately following the long break. Approx 5 hrs from start of feed.

Thanks for finding!

Twitter says RBY won both matches by tech, but he pinned Mohamed -- found a bottom-leg cradle out of a single. Tim Foley still thinks folk hinders free.

In general: RBY looked good in both matches, looked the same on feet as we're used to, doesn't appear to have lost any quickness with the cut to 57 kg. He has obviously trained to work leg laces, and that can be potent for him with his foot quickness.

In earlier age-group matches, RBY used a side headlock a lot from top, and was deadly with it. He didn't even look for it today, though he also was never in position to attempt it. Hopefully that remains in his arsenal.

Neither opponent was close to medalists, but both are 2024 Olympic qualifiers. Hopefully this is the quality of opponent RBY draws in the first round or two.

He was using that side headlock at Pan Am’s to good effect, if I recall.
