Going through the preseason rags helps put some perspective onto the various outlooks for the upcoming season. Standing out to me are the following observations ( Points of Light) by folks with a lot more wisdom than I:

- PSU preseason #19
-1st Team AA Zettel

-#16 rated incoming freshman/JUCO class
-#14 ranked incoming JUCO player ( Paris Palmer) - who is up to 299+# BTW.
- the #21 &23 rated incoming DBs
-the #36 and 51 incoming LBers
-the #35 and 50 incoming DLmen
-the #18, 25 and 53 rated incoming OLmen.
-the #17, 52, 58 rated incoming WRs.
-the #22 and 24 rated incoming RBs
-the #42 rated incoming QB.
-the #23 rated incoming TE

Summary: the 15 extra bowl practices were felt to be BIG in developing depth, esp. on the OL. It will pay dividends this year, in the passing and rushing games.

D continues to be a Force.
O will make surprisingly major strides thanks to much improved experience/depth/competition.
STS are rising from the ashes ( with youthful depth) but will be average this year..
