Disclaimer: I didn’t touch on this for a reason. I didn’t want to spook people. The chances of him decommitting were always slim.
Anyway, James Franklin, Ricky Rahne and others did an in-home visit with OL Anthony Whigan tonight and everything is good to go. He’ll be signing with Penn State Wednesday.
However, I will note that Whigan hosted multiple coaches at his home in recent weeks. Maryland appeared to be the most realistic option - there was talk that he may take an official visit to College Park this weekend - but Syracuse, Florida State and Miami all did in-home visits with Whigan in the past two weeks.
Just passing it on that everything is good to go. With Simmons decommitting plus everything with Dunmore, I didn’t want more drama from a bunch of grown men. Lol. He had a few schools come after him really hard in recent weeks. He listened to what they had to say, but never appeared to that close to decommitting.
UPDATED: 9:30 PM ET - Just got off the phone with a contact. Penn State actually didn't make it to Whigan's house tonight due to the weather. I believe all the fog in the area may have impacted their flight, but I'm not exactly sure.
However, there's still nothing to worry about. He's not visiting Maryland this weekend. There was some talk that he may take a late official visit to get to know Locksley and his staff, but he decided it against it.
