In reading the HR board, their speculation is that it is between PSU and Iowa for 125 Teske. Is this a possible addition to the current class? Also they indicate Iowa will have a recruitment event on 9-23. Will Cael have any similar event or has it already happened?

So what happens with the scholly money that the Rutgers transfer freed up for us? Does Cael get to redistribute the 9.9 as he sees fit?

Teske is class of 2018.

Cael has never held such an event before, never say never, but that's not really his style. His personality is a little more low-key than Coach Franklin.

Just to be clear, he won't redistribute the entire 9.9, only the portion that was previously allocated to someone who doesn't want to be here.

Chances are he'll give some deserving wrestler(s) a one-year reward.

Right - 2018 - but isn't NLI date in Nov. 2017 which means recruitment about to be resolved one way or another.

Kind of apples and oranges though. Franklin has to have that kind of event for recruiting. I don't think it has anything to with personality.

Try to picture Cael running that event. It's not him.

I don't doubt that at all. However, had he been the football coach he'd probably have to get used to running those types of events. lol

I think that's semi-delusional HR stuff. I think it's either PSU or Iowa *State*.

November 8th through the 15th is Early Signing Period. If uncertain, for whatever reason, Regular Signing starts April 11th, 2018.

As part of the event, all of the potential recruits will get to throw Tom Brands for fun. Although, they'll be a little nervous about doing so, he'll tell them several times to do it.

Iowa just tries to get all their big time recruits to take official visits during the same weekend. Would guess this is fairly common at a lot of places.

Cael has never had a recruiting weekend where he's had multiple recruits on campus at the same time?

So, with the large class of 2018 recruits, have they all/ any taken official visits. I realize my point of reference is football recruiting with a larger budget, but what does Cael do with trips to State College. From notes on here, he is very active visiting high schools, but there is little info about recruits interacting with the current team.

I believe last fall there was a picture posted of Fix at a PSU Women's volleyball game. Believe he was with Bo and Zain.

The only time we here about recruits visits to PSU is from the recruit. Cael has no need to advertise that stuff, which is how it should be.

They'll all take officials. Mostly on home football weekends, though not always -- Nick Nevills' wasn't (IIRC it was an off weekend for his HS football team).

I might be misremembering the timing, bit I think Nick took his official after signing his NLI. So there's no one way to do it.

Lyons hit one of the tools used by all the coaching staffs at PSU, right on the head.

It is not unusual to see recruits with a student host (see below) at a sporting event. I've personally seen recruits at Women's Volleyball matches, and Football games. Sometimes it gets posted here (by others), sometimes not.

The rules for Official Visits, to keep the playing field level, are in the Rulebook. Here's a few pertinent ones;

-- A recruit may only take 1 Official Visit to a specific school
-- A recruit may take as many Unofficial Visits as they like
-- A recruit may only take 5 total Official Visits
-- First day Official Visits are allowed is the 1st day of High School classes, Senior year
-- Recruit must register with the NCAA Eligibility Center prior to any Official Visits
-- An Official Visit is limited to 48 hours
-- Complimentary admission to home athletic events is allowed
-- Student Host(s) are allowed

The idea (for Wrestling) of spending time with a current wrestler (Student Host), and watching a PSU Football game, Women's Volleyball match, etc. is a huge benefit, recruiting-wise. Seeing our facilities, and time with the coaches is big too...but imo hearing about the wrestling culture, the atmosphere in the room, some of the intangibles, FROM A WRESTLER, is invaluable.

Remember, there's not a huge window between the start of classes, senior year, and the first opportunity to sign an NLI (Early Signing is one week, starting Nov. 8), so lots of visits at all campuses around the country will be happening between now and Nov. 5. November 6th starts a short Dead Period, when no contact is allowed.

With football, there is reporting for each home game about who is visiting. Appears BWI doesn't have the same type of coverage for wrestling and we only get that info if one of the insiders reports it. Diceman's spread sheet is excellent, but more so after the fact when a verbal is known. Does info about recruiting activity not filter out of the program? Seems Iowa has much more of that type of info reported.

Now why would any recruit want to watch a boring Women's Volleyball match?

Yes, or he just saves it for the class of 2018 and beyond.
Can not save this year's to be given next year.
Unless he has a mid-semester transfer hanging in the wind and he generally spreads a little wealth across the entire room, just a guess but whatever was slotted at 125 for this year gets spread across the room.

I think you misunderstood. If NS was on a 50% ship that money is available this season but also the next 2 as it was already committed to NS so now it can be given to someone(s) else.
