I'm not going to be back in State College until late this evening, but I was able to catch up with Belleville head coach Jermain Crowell this afternoon regarding yesterday's visit. I wanted to make sure I posted some feedback since I won't be free to write up a full update until this evening.

Coach Crowell ended up bringing about 20 players to State College yesterday, but the two most important were 2019 OL Devontae Dobbs and 2021 DE Damon Payne. Dobbs has held an offer for awhile now, while Payne added an offer yesterday.

Overall, Saturday's visit was pretty brief. They visited Pitt earlier in the day and didn't make it to Penn State until about 4 PM. A few assistants showed the players the Lasch Building and the stadium. That was pretty much it.

Coach Crowell was saying that Dobbs enjoyed speaking with Coach Banks. He also appreciates Penn State's academic standing. Crowell also told me that this was actually Dobbs' eighth visit to Penn State? He said that, as a team, they've been to PSU eight times since Dobbs was in eighth grade. I didn't know that. So, that's interesting. I thought he visited a few times before, but not that many times. A lot of those visits weren't totally focused on Dobbs, but still. That grabbed my attention. Dobbs is clearly more familiar with PSU than I originally thought.

As for Payne, he's going to be another national prospect. Georgia, Iowa, Michigan and Penn State are the biggest schools right now, but that list is only going to grow. Crowell said that walking into the stadium was something Payne and the younger guys will never forget.

PSU is also interested in CB Andre Seldon, but at 5-8, 160, he's going to need to grow a bit more before the staff pulls the trigger on an offer.

If I don't get home too late this evening, I'll try to get a full story with quotes posted tonight. Worst comes to worst it'll be up early tomorrow morning.
