I filmed the majority of OL vs. DL one-on-ones Friday night. Both Michal Menet and Connor McGovern were involved. 2017 DL Brandon Hickerson-Rooks and 2018 DE/LB Micah Parsons were also involved

I believe there's one rep from Robert Hainsey, but he actually sprained a finger earlier in the night. He went like once or twice early and then just sat out so he didn't do anymore damage. Good decision since we're just weeks away from two-a-days.

None of these guys were really challenged this weekend. I think that's important to note. The competition at Rivals camps and Nike camps are much better, so keep that in mind.

So was that Menet disinterested cause it looked like he got toasted on his two reps on the video? Not good.

How would you rate Menet's performance than? Its obvious he was beat bad...I mean why would he give a lackluster effort infront of his college oline coach...this team needs competitors, guys that hate to lose and will do everything they can to avoid it. So yeah he had two really bad reps, obviously that doesn't show the whole picture of his talent. It shows two really bad reps and in the setting are concerning to me. McGovern was a beast, you didn't see him getting beat by some scrub.

The only issue I have with Menet is that the league he is in is an absolute joke. The competition sucks and there is no way he will get better playing against terrible teams week in week out.

Check out Menet's reps against Rashan Gary at the Jersey camp a few months ago. By transitive property I guess you could say that the #2 DT in the country is pretty much a scrub.

Where do you come off coming to the conclusion that I'm calling Rashan Gary a scrub....Did you read what Ryan posted "None of the guys were really challenged" and Menet still gets beat. I asked Ryan "then Menet must be disinterested" and Ryan's response is "probably." Like I said before why would a commit not perform infront of his future coach, making himself look bad? What sense does that make. I'm questioning more his mindset than his actual physical talent. So what's your response?

My response is that you are making a big deal about two reps caught on video (out of I'm sure a lot more actually taken) at a fairly non-competitive camp. If you expect every kid to be that competitor who never performs at less than 110%, you're going to be very disappointed. The intensity switch goes on and off for most everybody depending on the situations you are in - some more than others. I wouldn't read a whole lot into 2 isolated reps in a summer camp. Just like I wouldn't read too much into the 2 reps in NJ that we have video of where Menet kicks Gary's butt.

Did you really call the "PSU ELITE CAMP" fairly non-competitive camp? Highly doubtful the rest of the kids attending consider it as such and hopefully Menet doesn't either. I think your making excuses. I'm not saying Menet isn't a talented kid but if you are already having to make excuses about his drive and competitiveness that's a problem. I can except him getting beat fine, happens, but the way he got beat defenders blowing right by and Ryan saying he probably was disinterested. I was just surprised to hear a rivals100 player was probably disinterested at a PSU elite camp performing under his future coach.

Connor McGovern does not exactly look the part, but he has fantastic fundamentals. His foot work, his knee bend, his hips, the way he anchors ... They all sound easy, but you see so many 300 lb guys with sluggish feet, bending at the waist, and no anchor. Give McGovern 2 years to transform some of that 'baby fat' into solid muscle and he will be an absolute beast.

The DE prospects look great. Parsons was almost impossible to block.

And let's really hope the Menet was dis-interested.

Like someone mentioned above, the Berks County IC League is garbage. Menet could be the absolute greatest OL to come out of HS in the last 20 years. He could be the next Anthony Munoz, John Hannah, and Tony Boselli all rolled up into one body, but he is not going to get any better going up against Berks IC League competition. Even if these guys at this camp were "scrubs", they are still about 100x better than anything Menet will face come season, so he should take advantage of camp competition.

Yes

Also, I'm not making excuses. I just think you are taking a very large leap based on little to nothing. I provided an example to counter your leap which I think is relevant.

Not really sure how good Menet will be. His competition IS atrocious. We've seen snippets on tapes at camps. Again, my whole point is that you are likely making a mountain out of a molehill.

I see it differently, but I think we can agree those reps were not a good look for him.

good lord, Menet loses two reps, one against Parsons (who is about as elite as it gets for a DE his age, he'll have offers from every school in the country and a camp setting is perfect for someone with his skill set), and Rooks, who is a really good player as well. And it's two reps. Who the hell cares.

I try to argue that there is value to the OL/DL reps at camps when it comes to evaluations, but getting hung up on individual rep wins and losses is not where the value is.

Where does PSU stand with Parsons and Rooks?

Parsons and Rooks are terrible and so is their competition. After all they only beat Menet once. :) some of you guys need put out of your misery.

Parsons wanted to commit but was convinced to hold off by family (wise move, he's a 2018 kid), but we're going to hear a lot about him over the next couple years. Rooks is a 2017 kid who doesn't have any offers yet. He doesn't have ideal DL size (a little short to play DE, not stout enough to play DT). But a camp setting plays to his strengths.

Mcgovern = absolute monster
Parsons = 16 year old beast mode

All I've heard is menet is the best/complete oline prospect psu has landed in forever... And McGovern is more of a project really, talented but no where near menet. Then I watch the vid and I'm like do they have the captions wrong bc this McGovern kids game is tight !!

McGovern isn't a project. He's a good player already.
