Hey all,
Have some new information and news from the EYBL this weekend that I thought I would share with you, some new names and some information on the recruting year.
First, here are some names to keep track of.
1) Luke House: Luke is a 2019 shooting guard who will start his high school career at Archbishop Carrol in PA. House is more of a combo guard, but I think his natural position will be off ball in the coming year, he knows how to score putting up 26&28 this weekend. House has a nice dribble game and is able to get his shot off while going left and right, which is impressive for going into 9th grade. Obviously, still has a long way to go body wise, skinny frame right now. But I can see him growing to about 6ft4 in the coming years. On thing is for sure, he will shoot it well and score a lot. I expect him to get major time at Carrol this year. A kid to look out for.
Justin Anderson: 2018 PG from Academey Of New Church. Anderson is a teamate of recent PSU offer Marcus Littles. Anderson is about six foot two and around 170lbs right now, skinny frame, but a good athelte very quick and shifty. Justin is a standard PG right now who is learning the position, but has a ton of talent. PSU will be monitoring in the coming months. Pat took the Roman big3 and would not be shocked if he took that similar approach with these two. Good shooter, good handle, avrege defender. Right now, Anderson, in the times I have watched, is a streaky shooter and struggles off the bounce. I think the in the coming years he will improve in that aspect. Quick hands... A player to watch in the coming year. Significant position two years from now, due to Carr being a junior at that time.
Kyle Thompson: PG class of 2018 from St.Joe's Prep. Kyle is the PG for the Prep and also the PG from Team Final black 16U and another 2018 prospect to keep tabs on. Kyle is a very heady, smart, and very fundamentaly sound player, as most coaches players that come from St.Joe's Prep. A very consistent knockdown shooter from three point range and mid-range and just makes the right plays with the basketball. Not a tremendous athelte, a little slow footed and not a worry athelte, but good enough in both areas, around six foot three right now. Reminds me a little big of Reggie Redding, who also played at the Prep. Definitely someone to keep watch of, had a strong weekend. Pat keeping tabs in the Philly 2018 prospects.
Jahvon Quinerly: 2018 Shooting Gaurd. Jahvon is one of the top prospects in the country for 2018 and I expect him to land at high major, but worth a mention because he does list us at this point. He is a bucket getter, does everything to score the ball. Right now, it seems like ST.Johns is going all out for him. Very good passer and ball skills had a double double this past weekend. Simply, he is a STUD. Good to be mentioned with him. Plays on a loaded AAU team for Sports U out of NJ.
EriK Ayala: Putnam Science class of 2018. Erik played outstanding this weekend with his backcourt mate Trey Duval. Erik is solid in a ton of aspects of he game. High bball IQ, scorer, and a plus defender. Played exte well this weekend and holds a PSU offer. Big guys starting to sniff around, most notably Indiana. Staff is monitoring while he has a offer.
In short, there will be many more names to surface next weekend as well. Pat was in Brooklyn, NY this weekend for the Nike EYBL. He stalked Team Final this weekend watching Marcus Littles and Darron Russel. At this point, I do not see Russel and PSU matching up, but they are monitoring him. A lot of interest in Littles. The 2017 class is going to be small, maybe one player, which is fine. We had a huge 2016 class, have to have class balance. It is very clear Pat is working hard with the 2018 class right now, getting on them early and establishing relationships. The Florida offers were definitely surprising, but I like the moves.
I expect them to be in Hampton, VA for the EYBL session two this coming week. I will be sure to have more information and names that surface.
