174 pound match between Wyoming and Okie State the Wyoming kid is on top with score 4 - 4, but riding time scored for Wyoming. Jacobe Smith hits a roll, kinda, maybe has a reversal but not really. No worries though, referee Haggerty with his black and orange underwater to the rescue. That is 2 and I looked at the video and reviewed myself and of course I was right. Cowboy victory.

Jimmy Gulibon says, as his eyes roll to the back of his head, yep that Haggerty guy is always spot on.

I don't have a problem with the call. Ref called it when Smith turked the bottom leg, and he had control at that point. With Michigan's 0:02, Hastings would've gotten the reversal back.

I have no strong opinion of the call, but do find it somewhat humorous that pyles was swayed by the angle that was precisely the opposite of what the referee was actually looking at.

i thought Jacobe had an obvious two sitting in the arena. Good thing time ran out, he was about a second from giving it back. Hagerty was actually pretty good yesterday.

The real question is, did you buy a beer? How'd that go? I've been pretty impressed with what I've seen of J.Smith3 this year.

no beer. We left Ft. Worth at 9 to get back in time, I was tired, one beer I might still be sleeping in the seats. But coincidentally, the campus paper had an article this morning about the beer http://www.ocolly.com/news/osupd-re...cle_ac8f97c4-f0fa-11e8-826b-8b2a28ab5b06.html that has a lot of words, but no info. You know, kind of like Spyker and Guns back in the day

No, the whirling-dervish ref saw the leg turk before whirling to the other side.

Before that, John Smith walks up behind Haggerty when the wrestlers are on the edge and says the wrestlers are out of bounds. Haggerty immediately blows the whistle and they go back to the center. That gave Smith the opportunity for Smith to do what he did.

I'm still not crazy about the inconsistencies of the edge calls. Seems like a lot of folks are 'pushing' their opponent OOB. Also, Fix is close to a fleeing call when attempting to get out of the low single (he turns and jumps OOB for escape, doesn't get it and no call). Here is one rarely seen - when in-control and standing and there is a push out in order to maintain control. Not sure if I would like to see that call, but it is obvious that the top man is driving OOB to maintain control.

Have watched a good bit of wrestling, and the stall call against the guy pushing his opponent out while showing no offense, has been called about as frequently as it should in the past year+. Just based on observation and knowing what the rule is. Seems the refs have adapted. I actually see more wrestlers shrugging when they're pushing, and the call goes against them.

interesting Roar. I do see it called (pushing out) but not as often as it is happening, in my opinion. Of course, I'm only stating the rule and not an opinion of the rule itself.

For over a year now, I've been saying to myself, Does this ref have the courage to call stalling on the guy pushing. It's a rule that was an emphasis for the refs to call, and the coaches and wrestlers to adapt to. Plus it has been a topic often on this board over the years. That's why I've taken notice.

For me, I see it called by the book as often as one could expect. And I don't hear/read near the complaints from fans (here and from my wrestling friends). Not much to complain about is how I'm reading the tealeaves.

I agree with Roar wholeheartedly. When this was introduced I was certain that it would be an utter disaster and the first few weeks didn't do a lot to make me feel better.

I was 100% wrong. The rule is very good and the refs and wrestlers have adapted well. The call on the pushing wrestler is a bit tricky, but agree with Roar that I've seen it called as much as one could expect.

The one instance that I sometimes have trouble with it is when it is called when the wrestler does not have an opportunity to center after a flurry of action. But I only see it called that way by a few refs in a few places. I really could not expect more, and it has been very good for college wrestling. 80/20 rule and I think that under 20 account for more than the 80 I have trouble with.

I don't have issue with the rule, just the inconsistencies in how it is called. Too subjective in my opinion and not called the same among all the ref's. I'm glad others don't see it like I do!
