Iowa driving late for tie and Refs call 2 holding penalties in a row to kill the driveWhat happened? I’m at work
Surely evening out some clear cut calls on Michigan early in 1st no doubtIowa driving late for tie and Refs call 2 holding penalties in a row to kill the drive
It seems clear to me that officials have no idea when to call holding. I saw benign plays today that were called holding and blatant holds not called. It is terrible. One way to get a call as a DL is to just fall down when engaged to the side of an OL.
Officials can really control games. The only hope for the sport is that the bad calls or no calls become random.
The problem for the Penn State OL is that they do not seem to move all that well. They are a bit like the Iowa and Wisconsins of the world but do not play a scheme that suits big and slow. I think we will get a lot of holding calls in the big games this year as defensive linemen get a little quicker. We've clearly showed no ability to block linebackers.
I do find it funny that Purdue was not called for holding at all today while giving up ten sacks
Michigan under Harbaugh is much better at home than on the road. Scoring 10 points today does not indicate they are back.I'm not buying the "Michigan went back to the drawing board and is back" narrative they are trying to construct. Iowa is weaker offensively without the two NFL TEs. Stanley is not a great QB. They don't have a game changer at RB. OL is probably average.
Michigan still didn't get anything going offensively. Army was down 2 TDs to Tulane and has probably lost by now. A 1-loss Michigan probably helps us more than an undefeated Iowa.
Iowa is a lot less daunting now, but by how much?

Refs missed a blatant PI against Nebraska. Nebraska gets the interception. A couple plays later and Nebraska is in position for a game winning FG attempt. 41 seconds left, tied at 10.
