Results matter on the field. The "Eye Test " means nothing

How do you compare teams that don't play one another?
Like 90% of the relevant decisions to be made

Call it whatever you want to call it (and I think "eye test" is a gag-me term) but unless you actually have a playoff of some sort, that's all ya' got left

Sounds like the old system, but worse.

Yep, and on the field PSU lost 2 games... one to an unranked team and one by 39 points to an overrated team.
And Pitt lost to a 6-6 Big 10 team and continues to be small time and inrellavant. And they knocked the shit out of your players, including the overrated Conner who couldn't hold Barkley's jock.

Penn State and OSU did play each other and they put the losing team in the playoffs.

No. no. This is Ohio State and Herbstreit....

Clemson may beat Ohio St but Ohio St is still clearly the better team. The outcome of a game is just a suggestion. Results on the field don't really matter. Herbstreit will be pushing this week for Ohio St to meet Alabama in the championship.

Clearly Clemson just had the higher score because of a fluke. That's how it works with Herby now.

OSU eye test in progress...

Point is, contrary to the last line of your post, there is no PLAYOFF
Never has been, and - if the P5 Commisars have their way - there never will be
(Not unless and until they can figure out a way to control the "playoff" money and keep the NCAA out of the picture)

What the eye sees is still interpreted to the brain. Put Bama jerseys on Rutgers and they'll look 10x better even if they're still losing by 50 points.

OSU built its resume with wins over Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Michigan. I have no problem with them being in the conversation for a top 4 spot.

Having them as untouchable and firmly cemented in the top 4 going into the conference championship weekend was where I cringed.....no doubt had they won the B1G East and lost the B1G title game they'd be outside the top 4, so the committee basically awarded them for not having to play again. The logic there is so backwards.

But Pitt didn't win the conference. Maybe they should have put Louisville in since they were okay putting second place teams in...that might have been a more even match up for OSU.

If you say so

But - personally - I don't think LVille is one of the "top 4" either

:)

Apparently the "eye" test is flawed because one eye is open, one eye is closed.

Obviously should use the "eyes" test!

It's impossible to compare over 100 teams from different conferences in any sensible way. That is why, if the committee had any sense, they would let the conferences do triage for them: restrict the playoff to conference champions.

Make it eight teams conference champs auto in and no independents allowed. That would force the domers to join or be out in the cold.
