Right now, theis team is not very good

Well, then the good news is neither is Michigan, Michigan State or Ohio State’s defense....so we still got a chance.

As coaches say, the biggest improvement usually occurs between week one and two. Let's reserve judgement until next week, at least. Agree though, not a very good performance yesterday. Very disappointing.

Just glad it was a win and didn’t derail our season at the start. After UM lost to Appy State, they went on to beat ND, PSU and Florida.

BTW, We didn’t have a great team at the beginning of our 2016 season either. I’ll count this as that Pitt game, only with a W instead of an L.

Of course I did. No way I am as smart as you
Onside. Kick-well executed Psu caught flat footed
Asu receivers-Collectively caught everything in the fourth quarter hats off to them
Asu qb-Kid was terrific down the stretch
Coaching-Asu coaches punched all the right buttons.Psu not so much but hopefully this is first game jitters.
With all that went against them Psu managed to pull this out. When Asu went ahead there was no way Psu was going to pull this out.Kj receives the kickoff and hesitates then brings it out. He not only Gets great field position but finishes the drive.Clutch,clutch,clutch.Then in overtime the offensive line came off the ball with authority and the defense came through.
We had them all the way we just held back half the offense so Pitt will not have much to go on.

All that is fine. They have quite a ways to go. That's the nature of college football losing key starters.

Defense only gave up a single FG thru 3 quarters.

Fix a few drops and dial back some substitutions, and this game would have been iced.

Tip your hat to Appy St QB, WR RB & coaches. They were outstanding late.

PSU DT & LB remain a worry though.
But they’ll improve thru the season.

Thank you for saying this. There is a lot to be grateful for with this win. We did not have Givens which was huge. We showed heart, courage, and resilience. We could have quit, but did not. We showed the basic characterization of Franklin's better teams of playing hard, with emotion, and belief in themselves. There is so much both positive and negative to build on from this game. Time will tell. Hopefully, it will be to the good starting with Pitt next weekend.

Tackling. Bet App State had a hundred yards of offense after contact that should have resulted in a stop. Maybe 175 yards counting the KO return. Some of it was determined running, but too much was poor tackling. Arm tackling and "big hit" whiffs. Much of tackling is mental. Play smarter!

With the exception of last year, every season under JF started with bad tackling.
Personnel losses have practically taken us back to a sanctions era roster. Maybe contact is being limited in practice more than average.
