I had a Joe Pepitone baseball card with him as a Cub. Decent ballplayer but a hell of a character who seemed like a really fun guy. RIP Joe.

I asked him about the Seinfeld references once, when I was in a yankee box. He looked at me and said “I haven’t seen a bleeping dime for it”. Must have been a touchy subject. I was never so happy to see Bernie Williams walk in, I thanked him for developing Central Park and headed towards Bernie.

My father loved the guy. Dad would always talk about Joe’s sideburns being a controversy in those days.

I'll never forget the day I was sitting in the CF bleachers in the old Yankee Stadium. Mantle was about 30 feet in front of me and Pepitone was playing left. During the national anthem Pepitone stated whistling toward Mantle. Mantle yelled at him, "Shut the f_ck up." They both started laughing. Pepitone was quite the character.
