The news might not reach outside of Baltimore, Buffalo, and Atlanta that the former NFL'er passed away at 39. Baltimore locals Aaron Maybin and Bryant Johnson were heavily involved with his charity Carpenter House.

Just saw this flash on the BAL news.
Was playing with his son and fell and hit his head.
He (Carpenter) was doing a lot of good things for the city of Baltimore. We need a lot more like him.
Sad. R.I.P.

He was involved in a couple of things in B'more and mentoring at Woodlawn HS. He attended there and apparently never forgot where he was from. Suburban HS close to the city. Some great testimonials about him today on local radio. Dude made an impact.
