Did you ever compete against a professional athlete? I did. They play to win.

Most every high level player (except, apparently, Mr. Rose) knows that type of play is unacceptable, and certainly unexpected, in a midseason exhibition game featuring the sport’s best players. There have rarely (if ever) been any cheap shots that would risk injury to other players in any all-star game in any professional sport.
A real game is a different story. And had this situation come up in a real game, Mr. Fosse would have been prepared for it and probably would have turned Mr. Rose’s face into mush.

Pure bullshit. Maybe in today’s patty-cake games. Ask Ted Williams. The most thrilling hit of his life? Home run to win the 1941 All-Star game.
