RIP Ray Fosse

Everyone bitching about Pete Rose would have loved him on their own team. The guy played flat out. The play in 1980 exemplified how he played on the field - how many other 1st basemen are even in the vicinity of Bob Boone to catch his mistake

A lot of Pete’s hits were cheap shots off the turf in Cincinnati. He realized if he hit a ball hard downward onto the turf it would bounce so high he could run to first before it came down and a fielder threw to first. Really boosted his stats vs players on natural turf.
