Robert Smith went back to his Week 6 Power Ranking relative to PSU and Wisconsin (i.e., he had moved Wisconsin in front of PSU in his Week 7 and 8 Rankings) - he has his Top 5 as:
- scUM
- daO$U
- PSU
- Wisconsin
- UNL
So is he no longer being told how to rank the teams by the B1G?
I think the BIG is now plotting against Wisconsin. Madison is behind in its cheddar payments.
Plotting against Wisconsin? Wisconsin has an inferior conference record to PSU - they're 4-2 and PSU is 5-1. PSU's and Wisconsin's 3 common opponents are scUM, daO$U and Iowa - PSU is 2-1 against the common opponents, while Wisconsin is 1-2. Even the 1 win that Iowa has against the 3 common opponents, Iowa, PSU clearly looked exponentially more dominant against Iowa (Wisconsin beat Iowa 17-9, but Iowa was in the game to their final drive where they just barely failed to score.....while PSU freight-trained Iowa from the opening kick-off.). Yea, putting PSU back over Wisconsin where Smith had them Week 6 before dropping PSU during a bye week and raising Wisconsin for LOSING to daO$U is really "plotting against Wisconsin".....LMFAO.....only in the eyes of a douche Shizholean homer.
All due respect to Mr. Smith (well, not really), but didn't we beat tosu? Being ranked ahead of us merely screams of his homerism.
I think they are looking at the entire seasons of both teams. Both have two losses.
Penn State did look better vs Iowa, but arguably looked worse vs both Michigan and Ohio State (despite beating the Buckeyes).
Consider the AP poll, Sagarin, etc. Thinking Wisconsin is the better team is not unusual.

You should take up your outrage with the Playoff Committee, the AP poll, the Coaches' poll, Sagarin, the Massey index... all of which rank Wisconsin ahead of Penn State.

I agree he is simply towing the B10 line, but it is possible he thinks that PSU/OSU were pretty even, but OSU has turned a corner since. I'm not saying I agree with him, I'm just saying I understand. Think of it this way, outside of 17 people in Pittsburgh, no one thinks Pitt is better than PSU at this point in the season, or that PSU wouldn't crush Pitt in a rematch.
Maybe, but it is simply illogical to say that team A looked better LOSING to team B than team C did in BEATING team B. Wisky may be better than PSU, that may be a fair evaluation based on both teams' entire schedules. But to claim, as you did, that Wisky looked better LOSING to OSU than PSU did in BEATING OSU is really just patently silly and I think the 95% of the country you cite as support for that proposition is laughing at you.
