I agree with you wrm, but I wouldn't be upset about Pasedena either. These Lions have had such a great year, I'm simply glad to be able to watch them play one more time this year (hopefully two!)

If you get a chance to play the best team in the nation, you play. Even if PSU got beat by 40, it will do more for the program than playing a tough USC team.

The Rose Bowl is definitely not a meaningless bowl...especially after what most projected for us before this year and where we were at the end of September. Having said that, you play the game to win it all. If we play Bama in the Peach Bowl, that door is still open to PSU. We don't have that opportunity in the Rose Bowl. And just like you can't guarantee a victory in Pasadena, you can't guarantee a loss in Atlanta.

The Rose Bowl is not a meaningless bowl game - at least not any moreso than all of the bowl games (including the playoff) are meaningless. USC and Penn State are arguably two of the best teams in the country right now. I'd love to see it.

By that definition all of the bowl games are meaningless; the national championship is not even recognized by the NCAA. You can dress up a stupid system with a playoff committee but it's still a stupid system. If we won the playoff but the AP decided to name Ohio State national champions, they would have a "national championship" in 2016. That's how stupid it is. It's not much different than boxing; just sold in a better package. I'd like to see a great matchup in a great location.
