See link to a 17 minute video re the major rule changes for the next 2 seasons. It will be interesting to see if they actually enforce (personally I doubt it) the Questioning of the Rules Application (used to be questioning the ref) and Control of the Mat area rules.

Also, they still haven't answered what happens when the Delgado/Heil Danger Zone after the TD is awarded. Do they stop the action and go to the referees position or do they start counting backs if the bottom wrestler is in criteria. If the later you could see what used to be a stalemate turn into a 6 point move.

Cool, instead of a link it actually inserted the video. I didn't expect that.

The key phrase here is that when the count reaches three, control is established. Wrestling will continue and a nearfall count will commence if the wrestler on his back is in position to give up nearfall. Though nearfall isn't always called that way, the video makes the point that the danger zone criteria is 90 degrees while nearfall is 45 so technically it is possible to give up a takedown under this rule, but not be meeting nearfall criteria, though I expect very few calls like that to be made.

Hopefully our officials can figure out with this new rule that 90 degrees and 45 degrees are totally different things. #45not90

Its a shame Jimmy has graduated. He sees several rules changes that benefit him. The "Heil" rule obviously. But also the stalling on top when standing. Frankly, watching some guy throw in the legs and have control in all situations is wrong. Now, if he has legs in and the down wrestler stands up ... the legs have to come off. Watching Cruz hang on Jimmy was terrible wrestling. Glad they cleaned that up.

Especially in Stillwater

You would have to be extremely reckless to stay at less than 90 degrees after a takedown was awarded under the new rule. I love the rule and think it will lead to a lot more action (and more clean action). Too much time has been wasted trying to get a stalemate over the last few years. I believe you will see a lot of guys giving up takedowns and backpoints for a while, then a lesser number giving up takedowns and getting to their base and finally very few wrestlers attempting to get in the original position. Well done, rules committee.

Just more for the darn refs to try and figure out will surely make things interesting and lots of flags tossed.
