I'd spend most of the week practicing falling on loose balls. One of these days we're going to need to recover a fumble.

During the game I'd have Stevens throw a lot of passes. All the staff ever let's him do is run. He doesn't fool anybody.

Maryland, Maryland, Maryland!

The next time Stevens hands the ball off to the running back on a RPO will be the first time in his career he does so.
Defense only needs to key on him because the ball isn’t going anywhere else. Hell they should bring all 11 guys into the box when he’s lined up at QB with a running back

I don’t know.........Michigan 7 Rutgers 7 in the 2nd quarter. Rutgers pulling off the upset??? :D:D:D

Exactly. He runs when he comes in. He doesn’t hand off, he doesn’t throw. Every time they put him in the game today it was like giving a down away. Compare that to when Clifford came in and threw deep, across the middle, etc. It seems they don’t let Stevens do that and I’m wondering if maybe he’s not a very good passer. Don’t know. Regardless, it may be time to retire the Lion position.

21-7 Michigan at the half. To Rutgers, this is probably a huge moral victory.

rutgres only ran 18 plays in the half and trail by just 14 points. They have 101 yards rushing (80 on the TD play) and 3 yards passing. They're hoping to achieve better O balance in the 2nd half.

It's not a matter of what Tommy is and isn't allowed to do; it's how he plays. He tends to keep the ball rather than hand it off on option plays. On called passes, when he feels pressure he pulls it down and runs. You don't see that with Clifford, so I don't the staff is limiting the 2nd string QB and not the 3rd.

He will have to learn to stay in the pocket if and when he's the starter. He is almost always looking to run.

It certainly appears that way. I thought the same thing watching him today, hoping for more, some real plays given Trace's injury. Not to be. By choice, who's choice? By design, by chance, by golly. It is not a good trend for #2.

and Rutgers will be riding a 10-game losing streak out of next weeks game.

Well, that’s not good.

We will win the game but Rutgers is improving. They have played some teams "closer" this year and were in a few games until they wore down/out. We can't take them as lightly as in the past.

That said, it we do not give up big plays our defense should be solid and dominate. The defense appears to be coming together as a unit and as individuals as more younger players receive more time on the field. I'm looking forward to this defense the remainder of this year and the next several. Look'in good.

We seem to do OK against one dimensional teams, and Rutgers is about as one dimensional as it gets. You have to figure we will give up 10-14 points while our starting linebackers are out there each half, but should shut them down after that.
