Wirh Moorhead's spread formation, these two guys in the backfield together with Godwin and Hamilton on the edges, and a mobile QB (either one), gives us a lot of team speed on offense next year. This could be fun to watch over the next few years.

as long as the o-line vastly improves. Get some of the young kids in the lineup and get them experience.

I agree could be a fun offense to watch but Godwin and Hamilton, while good receivers, are not that fast. Many times this year they had a chance to go the distance and got caught from behind. Plays you would expect big time receivers to pull away. They have great hands, good body control, etc., but not high end speed. Doubt that Johnson or Charles, at their size, have that kind of speed either. But Polk and Thompkins do, and this offense is designed to get guys like that the ball in space and see what they can do with it.

The forgotten man seems to be Blacknall. For all we hear about his athleticism, it doesn't show up much on the field. Doesn't seem to be able to get enough separation. With all the WRs we have, maybe this would be a good RS year for him to figure things out. Otherwise, he's looking at another less than 10 catch year.

If you think about it, there is so much you can do with those two in the backfield together. The question will be how much can they implement, given it is a new offense for both Barkley, Sanders, and the entire offense. So that may limit a bit next year of what they can do. I hope Moorehead(and I believe he almost needs to) opens the play book from day 1 and just go all out.

I believe any conversation on the RB's must include Robinson. He is an outstanding RB that will add a more powerful style, and he was higher rated than Adams by our staff as they only wanted Adams as a LB recruit (reportedly). And Adams had a pretty good year at RB as a true frosh for ND.

How about the "Big 3" PSU RB's...........

There are some WRs who redshirted last year who ought to get some playing time next year. Irvin Charles and Juwan Johnson are both tall and talented. Also think Deandre Thompkins gets involved as well

How about Robinson?

Robinson's ability to be effect will be based on the improvement from the O-Line. He is a very talented back but is more of a power-back and does not have the speed and wiggle of Saquon and Sanders. Robinson needs some space opened up that PSU's offensive line has not been able to provide the last two year.

Hopefully guys like Bates, (he's playing next year barring injuries) Gonzalez, Menet, etc can give the line a boost and Palmer, Mahon, Nelson etc can show the improvement for Robinson to be a viable option. At this point I think SB (obviously) and Miles Sanders will need to be the guys to make something happen with their shiftiness and ability to catch the ball out of the backfield.

But, can they do it without blocking? They might have to, you know.

Just think what kind of running attack we could have in 2017 with an experienced and much improved O line and Barkley, Robinson and Sanders all back at RB. The QB will likely have a year as a starter and plenty of WR experience too.

Boobie Miles' senior year clips. My fav is the fake punt at 3:10.

Nice film. Like the "old school" way he scores and just hands the ball to the official - nice! Shows a lot of confidence and doesn't need to draw a lot of attention to himself saying, "look what I just did....". Does have the habit that most elite high school RBs have....bounces too many plays outside rather than where the play is supposed to be blocked - in high school, you'll get the corner due to simply having more speed then the defense, but this advantage goes away at FBS level and you can't bounce everything outside running "east-west" all the time....you need to run the plays where they're called and trust your blockers. But again, this an adjustment that all superstar high school RBs need to make at the FBS level and not meant as a criticism, just an adjustment he'll have to make (and one that I was very impressed with in regards to Say-Say).

Good LOL. Do you realize Godwin ended up the season #2 for single season receiving yardage, 1101 yds, ahead of players like Bobby Engram and OJ McDuffy??? Considering how inept our offense was this year I'd call Mr Godwin one of our great all time WRs.

Alan ROBINSON wasn't considered very fast either. He's going to the Pro Bowl.

Jerry Rice was not fast either which is why he was still available when the 49ers picked him last in rd #1.

I am just dreaming of a two-back set with some misdirection. Play action passing should be wide open. Defenders would have to key on the running backs. We'll have break away, elite speed there.

THIS. Robinson is gonna be a beast.....Looks like our skill positions are gonna be really good. And now with a Good OL coach...... ;)

I think with Bates and Menet playing and Limegrover caoching the OL will be really improved. The offense should be the strength of the team next year. If it is not, then we won't be very good.

Yep. Defense starts with the battle up front. Yes, our LB's will be very good and our secondary will be talented but still somewhat young. But it's unrealistic to project the DL to be any better than average when you lose 3 all B10 kids and replace the DT's with 2 young backups as starters (White and Cothren) and a few redshirt freshmen, Windsor, Carter, and Bucholz (two of which were undersized and are bulking up to play the position - Carter and Bucholz)

We need the offense to take a step forward and that can only start with the OL.

I disagree that Blacknall's athleticism doesn't show up on the field. He has made some amazing sideline catches where the ball was out of bounds, but was able to get 1 or both feet in bounds when it looked virtually impossible to do. Give him next season to work on his pass patterns and he will be another Godwin!

Godwin is a Sunday player and I expect him to really dominate next year. drawing double coverage which should really open things up for all the others.

Love the fact that Miles goes towards the ref to give him the ball. Go all the way when you are a Penn stater!

I think he would be a fantastic kick off returner. He has great vision, makes people miss and incredible speed. I can't wait to see him in the back field especially in a 2 back set. Who would you key on? SB and MS both catch the ball well. What do you do when they are both in?

Love it!

Very glad to see Robinson getting some discussion here. He has not gotten nearly enough attention. He's a very different back from Barkley and Sanders and will complement them really well. Robinson is the kind of back that is very successful in the NFL right now -- short, hard to see behind OL (this is really a big factor), low center of gravity, very powerful and explosive.

He is also a really great team guy as you can see from his twitter.

I really hope PSU can sign Sanders. It is not too many backs at all. The way college football is played these days, 25-30 carries a game is not good, most backs get worn down and then injuries start to happen. It's better to share the carries and that way you still have knees when you go to the NFL. Also, different styles will work better against different defenses. It might be that against some teams Robinson will be more effective because of the type of back he is.

We tend to focus a lot on the areas where PSU is short personnel -- OL, DT, LB -- but in a lot of areas, particularly TB and wideout, Mr. Franklin has restocked the pantry better than it has been stocked in 20 years. If Sanders comes to Happy Valley, it's very possibly the strongest PSU has been at the position since Carter/Archie/Pitts.

Cant wait

Nice theory if backs never have to block. I don't know of any 2 back schemes where blocking is not a priority. This may very well determine playing time and play design. Their running skills are great.
