I was one of about 25 NLC donors invited to Sandy's house Friday night. I got to speak with her for about 15 minutes and here are her comments to the questions I posed to her:
1. Facilities master plan. As part of the plan, Beaver Stadium will get increased seat width. The National standard is 33" and we are at 24". She wouldn't speculate on the exact net reduction in seats nor if or how many of the wider seats would have seat backs. Bathrooms and concessions will also be addressed. She didn't provide a time line but indicated that these three projects would be done sooner rather than later.
2. Out of Conference Schedule. She said she is working on this and noted that Auburn in 2020 is the first step. She said she has had discussions with Alabama, Notre Dame, West Virginia and several Pac 10 teams. She said that going forward she would like to have a Power five team on the schedule every year.
3. CJF being on the hot seat. She really bristled at the notion that several media outlets were still saying that regardless of her statement, he was still on the hot seat. She said you can tell tem that I am the only one who decides who will be PSU's football coach. I wonder after Saturday's win if this is a moot point now.
