Sara Ganim writes a column quoting Bernie McCue...

Do I have this right? A guy who owned a bowling alley didn't call the police. Instead he called Joe & Tarman and put his adopted kid on the phone to talk with them about what happened even though he knew they would never call the police.

Am I missing something here?
It's logical to Sara. She's a sharp tool in the shed.

Yep. These people were concerned enough to do something, yet that something was to call the football program and just you know, let them decide what should happen. Makes total sense.

Boy, central PA has to have the largest collection of bad parents for the past 40 years.

I'm sure Joe would give his name over the phone and then threaten to report him to the police haha. "So Mr Police Man, some guy named Joe threatened me and intimidated me..."a congested hummingbird would smell the stench that Sara spews.

And did Joe always refer to himself as Joe when talking to 15 year olds? Wouldn't he have said Joe Paterno or Coach Paterno? I just find that a bit odd.

Why would he say such things about someone "who has done so many good things?" It was 1971, before Second Mile, and he had already done "so many good things?" Huh?

He was probably anticipating the good things Jerry was going to do in the future. The same way that PSU gave Joe complete control in 1971 in anticipation of the great things he was going to accomplish years later. How else could Joe have kept so many assistant coaches and administrators quiet for 40 years?

So VIC Surma was unavailable for comment so Ganim rolls out the TOWN DRUNK. BERNIE McCUE? F@cking pathetic "journalism". Wonder what her BOT retainer is per year or does IRA pay her cash skimmed from his casinos? Remember Ganim trotted out POS Surma as JVP's first captain "they've always had a culture problem up there". This article like 1 day after leaked presentment 11/11.

Bernie McCue. Arrested and charged with harassment twice: Once in 2006 and then again in 2012. Both dockets are on the Unified Judicial System. Then there's his penchant for scrawling obscenities on the Daily Collegian papers inside the Corner Room. This is who Ganim chooses as a Source that will go "on the record". This is the work product of a Pulitzer Prize Winner???

What about him? I didn't see a name attached to this source, so he's yet another anonymous source.

"He died before he was able to be thoroughly interviewed by authorities."

Whaa?

Great catch. If this doesn't raise some eyebrows nothing will. What a fabrication.

It's been mentioned a few times, but it bears repeating...if the victim was 15 in 1971then he is either 59 or 60 years of age today, not 62. There is a big difference from a 15 year old or a 17 or 18 year old young man. A difference one would likely never make when retelling a "true" story.

So, this is going to be crass but I just want to see if i have this right. A little help fellas.

An 18 year old gets picked up by Sandusky while hitch hiking, gets high with him and has a few beers or something along those lines then gets raped by Sandusky while taking a leak?

This is what we get for being so afraid of offending "victims" that we dare not question their stories. All you need to do is make up a story, attach Sandusky to it and you're a multi millionaire. It is to the point that Bernie Fing McCue can make something up out of thin air and it's taken as gospel by the media. This is what we get for letting Aaron Fisher, Alan Myers, Matt Sandusky, and all the rest claim to be abuse victims despite having stories with gigantic red flags and gaping holes in them. Obviously this doesn't apply to everyone, but it is PSU and many of it's supporter's stance that has gotten us to this point. These charges should have been heavily scrutinized from the very beginning but weren't and now here we are. It is amazing how many powerful people literally have their entire careers wrapped up in Sandusky being guilty. I pray the Paternos and alum trustees have something. However it seems like an advantage when you can just simply make up sources as you go along. This is actually pretty scary what's happening in the name of CSA.

ChiTown is the Jack Nicklaus of Twitter. He's that good.

I think that rare catch of Bernie started by him ridiculing JZ over something and Nams and I just went at him and he spit that beauty out. He's a known nut case and I think our sara is going to regret this one.

The media is mad at US - JZ, RMB, KS, Wen, Simons, you, me, all the normal people on this board and everywhere else that have called them what they are. They are lashing out at US. Nice to be able to hit back once in awhile.
It goes to show you how desperate she really is.

This guy's claims are such clear bull$hit following all "the script" to a tee:

He insisted that he "made it very clear" it was a sexual attack.

Gee where have we heard that one before?

And then all hell broke loose.

"They were asking me my motive, why I would say this about someone who has done so many good things."

Huh? Sandusky had only just come back to PSU from Boston U a year and one-half earlier as the article references earlier. Sandusky had not founded any of his philanthropic endeavors yet - this sounds almost like a word for word replay of what this guy likely read about what the Central Mountain High School Administrators told V1 when he attempted to make a CSA report to them. Sandusky was a no-name in 1971 - this quote is so clearly scripted it isn't even funny.

.....her husband -- who owned a local bowling alley and knew many high-ranking school officials -- called Penn State against his wishes. "I was blindsided," he said, adding that his foster father told him, "I assure you the police won't be called, but you gotta tell these people what happened."....

The men on the phone had introduced themselves as Jim and Joe, he said. He had no idea who Jim was, and can't, to this day, say for sure.

"There was no question in my mind who Joe was," he said. "I've heard that voice a million times. It was Joe Paterno."

WTF?!?! So his dad is some super influential local businessman and "knew many high ranking school officials" because he owned a Bowling Alley??? BTW, in 1971 who would describe Joe as a "high ranking school official"??? This was a very different era and Football Coaches did not command the salaries, revenues or authorities that today's coaches do - beyond that, JVP would only be entering his 6th year as Head Coach. The characterizations used here are so obviously crafted and scripted to many of the things said in the a Presentment and trials it isn't even funny. So the big-wig influential Bowling Alley magnate puts him on the phone with "these men" after telling him "I assure you the police won't be called, but you gotta tell these people what happened." - these people again??? Then, he gets on the phone with "Jim and Joe".....had no idea who they were, they didn't identify themselves.....doesn't know who one of them is, but knows for sure one of them is "Joe Paterno"??? What freaking nonsense - yea, I'm sure his foster-dad just set up conference calls with Joe Paterno at will??? Beyond that, why would his step-dad call Joe Paterno of all people to report that his child had been raped??? F'ing bizarre and clearly made up bull$hit given how scripted it is.

It's totally ridiculous. Why would this guy have his foster kid talk to Joe instead of the police, especially if he was sure that Joe wouldn't act?

In the name of objectivity, Joe did have that little 30 game unbeaten streak that was ended in 1970. He was a very hot coach in 1971.

In the name of objectivity what? Nobody would have referred to JVP as a "high ranking school official" in 1971. BTW, you still haven't explained:

Why would "these guys" completely undisclosed other than "Joe and Jim" say that about Sandusky when he had only returned to PSU a year and one-half earlier, was a complete no-name as a coach and he had yet to initiate any of his supposedly philanthropic endeavors with DPW yet genius.

But had he been annointed all powerful ruler of the state of PA yet? Or did that come later?

Wow. That's not even good fiction. They have to work on that story more. It honestly reads like someone wanted to concoct the most basic JoePa villain story. He not only berates the kid but says he would call the police and doesn't. Sure. Right.

Wonder if they'll find a Jim to corroborate.
Especially the part where the guy said that the response from PSU was good could you say that about someone who has done so many good things - he forgot that at that point in time I don't think JS had done many good things yet. That might have been the response many years later but not at that point. Hmmm

Right, and Jerry played basically no role in it, so why would he cover for the guy?

Exactly - just got done posting similar thing. I read that part and am thinking this didn't make sense. Unbelievable people can just say whatever they want and some dumb a... Gets to publish it in national news without anything to substantiate it.
